Kachina Pueblo, a great place to stay

At the peak of the mountain, with the best views in Payson and a full private guest house. Your well behaved dogs are invited too. The amenities include a small gym and a sauna. You have full access to the house and the entire 1 acre property. You are at the top of the mountain with a 360 degree view for miles. Like the Kachinas, we are perched atop one of Payson’s highest points. We are on a private neighborhood road, with a small section of the road that is unpaved on the drive up. Quiet and secluded with a wonderful view of Payson and the surrounding town and mountains.

We came for our anniversary weekend with our dog and the place was lovely. It was clean, with beautiful views. Yes, it is older but still great for solo or couples traveling. It is down a narrow drive that gets you away from the main drag so you won't be walking anywhere, but that's why we liked it - quiet!

Very nice and quiet area. Easy check in and check out. But house definitely needs upgrades and attention. Furniture is very old and unstable. Carpet has pet pee stains in upstairs and downstairs so there’s a faint pee odor when you first walk in the house. The balcony is super unstable and loose wouldn’t recommend leaning up against it or touching it.

This house is beautiful but has some maintenance issues such as tiles coming up in the master bath and a cabinet door falling off, a beautiful but very saggy couch that was hard for us old folks to get out of, windows that didn't open and close, a stove where only two of the 4 burners worked, old mesh chairs on the deck that rotted through while we were sitting in one. However, these are all relatively minor maintenance fixes that once corrected will give this property back its "10" status. The narrow private road to the property is also in need of maintenance with broken pavement and several pot holes that made it difficult to navigate in the dark. But even with the maintenance issues we loved the place. We saw 4 Elk one morning and a Coyote the next morning.

Mixed! The location and views are great! Cleanliness was good. Furniture is acceptable but not super comfortable. Kitchen had everything you would need but dated. Deck was concerning! Railing at one end was screwed into rotten wood and had no integrity (potentially very dangerous). Nice having a gas grill but it didn't heat up past 250d. Took forever to grill some burgers.

The property is as listed. The deck off the back has a quiet, somewhat obstructed view - a nice place for morning coffee. The home is an addition off the top of their garage. There are many places on the exterior that are in need of repair, but the rental price reflects that. The interior was clean with the exception of the bathroom floor. There was also an adult scorpion in the dishwasher after we used it. The code to get in was wrong when we arrived, and even when changed the door was difficult to use. We ended up just leaving it unlocked when we exited.

The home was in a very nice location. Off the beaten path with amazing views from the deck. The owners insured that we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Unfortunately, the longer we stayed the more we noticed that there were some safety issues with the property. The railing on the deck outback was detached from the home and very very loose. There was some decking that was caved in which made me question the integrity of the supports below. There was definitely some dry rot under the windows in the living room, and some siding was peeling away from the home itself. A minor note of concern was that the outside light didn’t work. Either the bulbs needed to be changed or the switch just didn’t work. In all fairness, I did not contact the owners to potentially change the bulbs. There was a light at the end of the entryway to the home that worked and providing enough light for us in the evening.
