History lovers can visit the stone circle Long Meg and her Daughters (2 miles) or Lacy’s Caves (3 miles), and culture seekers can enjoy a day at the Rheged Centre (8 miles). At the bustling market town of Penrith (7 miles), explore the castle and museum. From Pooley Bridge (11.5 miles), you can cruise Ullswater or walk to scenic spots like Dunmallard (12.5 miles), Glenridding (19.5 miles) and Howtown (15 miles). Keen cyclists can also tackle the route to the top of Heartside Pass (8 miles). You can use the Carlisle to Settle railway line for a day out from Langwathby station (2 miles).
