I had a confirmed reservation on Hotels.com but when I arrived THE HOTEL WAS CLOSED for renovations!!! It was a Saturday evening and other options were full or much more expensive. Fortunately the owners were there and said the hotel was damaged by a storm two months earlier and they decided to close it and do extensive renovations - a month before I made my reservation! The owners were very king and apologetic and offered me a just-renovated room for a huge discount. Clean bed and good a/c, but no hot water and of course, no pool or restaurant. Wifi in lobby only. I don't know why Hotels.com (Expedia) would let me make a reservation at a closed hotel!
