Food? Absolutely terrible. Every buffet, every restaurant. It was a chore to eat. And it wasn’t just us. If you looked at the faces of everyone in the restaurant, they all had the same look of disgust. Even the pina colada mix was a chemical mix from a box. Fruit selection nearly non-existant and never varied during our 8 day stay. Just ridiculous cuisine if you can call it that. If you want real food, a jar of salsa and chips will cost you $20 @ gift shop. Room? Cold w/poor venting directly down onto bed. Comfy mattress. Weak flushing toilet. Shower tub design terrible. Leaked water constantly onto floor. Tub abnormally hign and a liability getting in and out. Our maid stole our cold diet Cokes from our room! Staff overall were unfriendly and aloof most everywhere and couldn’t be bothered. The grounds were nice. Beach was nice HOWEVER there was a TON of seaweed. They cannot manage to remove it all. Really a shame. Of course this plaguing problem will not show in their advertising photos of the beach. No one would come this time of year. Our phone cord in our room was broken off completely before we arrived. The drawers to our furniture functioned poorly-they had to be forced open. We received a “premier” upgrade upon arrival. With that we were supposed to have a sort of personal Butler? Never heard or saw anyone. Airline pilots stay and eat here for free. You will never see a pilot on the buffet line or dining in a restaurant. Avoid this property. You will thank me.

The roooms have clearly not been updated, but they are comfortable and spacious. The beach was beautiful, as were the pools on both the adult and family side. I am a vegan, and there were more than enough food choices for me. The hotel staff was kind and accommodating. I stayed at a nearly brand new resort last time I was in the DR, but Barceló Bávaro Beach was a better location. They took excellent care of the beach. I definitely recommend this resort

Our stay was outstanding. Check-in with Imaranyes in Premium Beach Level was a surprise. She treated us like special guest the entire stay. Any small issues that we had was addressed within minutes. The entire resort that spot on 5-stars.
