Pros: Beautiful property and grounds. Decent food, better than other all-inclusive resorts we have visited. It was perfect for a weekend getaway. Cons: There is a strange system in place that involves an assigned “butler” who is supposed to handle everything for you. However, we had multiple issues that were not handled properly and there is no clear chain of command to have problems addressed. Some examples include our room not being ready by 3pm check-in time, dinner reservations not confirmed, room service not delivered. Most employees seemed eager to please but better training in customer service would be helpful.

Zel is beautiful and looks just as pictured. The staff were so accommodating and kind. Food was good. Room was wonderful. Wished we could have gotten that swim up upgrade from Expedia, but they were out. Would def come again.

Our family of four stayed at this hotel in the past when it was under different ownership. We saw many advertisements and thought we would give it a try. We had reserved a two bedroom swimup suite but when we arrived they said that they couldn't give us that kind of room until the next day. I mean, if you reserve this kind of room ahead of time it should be ready upon check in. So they gave us two rooms with one bedroom swim up suite that didn't connect. It was a little tough but we made it work. The next day housekeeping didn't come to the room so we had to ask for towels and our bed wasn't made. Everytime you asked for a hand towel they never had. The service at the breakfast and lunch buffet wasn't the best, you would have to ask repeatedly for water which seemed like a "big ask" sometimes. The food is mediocre at best. We would venture out to the beach during the mornings after breakfast and there was no help setting up chairs. We've been to so many resorts and they usually have someone to assist you in getting towels, chair setup, etc. The beach had a lot of seaweed too. The Beach restaurant was also mediocre. Service not good and food not good. The nighttime restaurants were ok but they had a better crew of people working them. All in all, our family tried to make the best of it. For the amount we paid for this trip we don't feel that we got what we wanted in a vacation. It's a beautiful resort (landscape wise) but sadly we won't be back.

It’s a great place for quiet getaway. Great food, nice pool area, activities, great stuff. The beach is 10 min walking distance, cart transportation is available. Large suits with a lot of amenities.

The property very quiet and the workers very friendly the beach area beautiful only inconvenience was the lack of food choices and they have only 2 restaurants buffet is very small and every day same food the hotel layout is setup nice overall we had a good experience.

Overall, a great experience! Great variety of food options with interesting fusions. The drinks were made good as well, though I wish they made the Piña Colada fresh! The customer service is out of this world; they assure you’re comfortable and having a great time at all times! Privacy is no issue throughout the resort, as there are many little spots to have a chat in, as well as cabana and jacuzzi areas throughout the pool area covered by trees! The beach is only a golf cart ride down the street. Once there, Zel has a wonderful beach club only accessible to its guest. Out of all restaurants and food options at the resort, the beach club had the tastiest in my opinion! It was great to be able to have brunch at the beach club overlooking the ocean and then relaxing in the lounge chairs and the water! Would definitely be coming back here!

We had a lovely time celebrating our silver wedding anniversary. Our room was pleasant and inviting. The decor was heavily influened by Dominican/Spanish tapestries. Lovely and simple. Everyone who was working there was very hospitable. We also had a hot tub on the patio of our room. Food was amazing especially at their restaurants: Volcan, Nokyo and the Beach Bar. Worth every moment. The beach was our favourite spot. The cart to the beach was a very minor inconvenience, as we did not wait any longer than 10 minutes. Pools are endless and it was lovely to try to explore all of them. Some very notoble staff who made our stay lovely: Justin (beach bar) Ulise (beach bar) Frank (consierege) Maria(Volcan) Wellington (Parda) tall lady waitress with glasses and long braids who loves to sing and dance - was everywhere. (SO SORRY we forgot her name) and all the restaurant servers and workers who cleaned up our room, 6008 and made this place a treasure. The bartenders made my drinks to perfection. There wasn't a mojito I didn’t like!:) Thank you for the wonderful memory. We hope to be back again with the entire family! Winona and Carlo

An excellent place, all the staff very friendly and attentive, very comfortable rooms, quality beach service. My only suggestion is perhaps to add smoking areas, since on several occasions we had to share closed-off spaces with air conditioning and people smoking. I found it a bit unpleasant. I recommend Zel as a good place for vacation.
