We got married in the Cook Islands and returned for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. We chose Crown Beach as where we stayed in 1993 was fully booked. The private pools and adults only was an attraction too. Overall a great stay and I would happily return. We used the private pool every day. We arrived late and were greeted warmly and as the restaurant was closed sandwiches and fruit were in our fridge which was very much appreciated. The bathroom wasn’t cleaned much during our stay - especially the huge shower and our bathroom rubbish was left on the bathroom counter one day. Our sun lounges were of the old type and one was broken and did not get fixed during our stay. Bed was king sized and comfortable. Bring your own DVDs as the onsite selection isn’t huge and to add to its quaintness Rarotonga has only one TV station and it shows rugby most of the time. Internet access is available but it is charged by the mb and you definitely wouldn’t want to download a movie. The food at Oceans is consistently good, if the steak was rather over cooked for medium. Lots of breakfast choices including eggs done to order included. We dined at Flambé one evening. It was pricier and the steak was still over done. I got a jagged piece of plastic in my meal so we weren’t charged for it. The entertainment was good if not very long. My husband declared his Margarita the best he had had in a long time. The beach at the resort is quite rocky but good for snorkeling. Walk up the beach a bit for a swim

Hotel was okay but quite out dated

Cons: would prefer ceramic bowls, not plastic! updates couches, towels provided in rooms rather than with a voucher.
Location: there is an absolutely amazing Italian restaurant just up the rd, not fancy but the food is great
Not what we had expected, a lot older & no view of the beach from bedrooms (no waking up to see the beach), we had a beach front villa but only able to see the beach if sitting in the lounge no cable TV,

Very secluded villas & pool

We booked this hotel for our honeymoon because it was adults only to our surprise we were regularly exposed to loud children noises coming from an adjacent villa! The staff are locals who appear to have no local knowledge of the island & could not offer us any advice on things / places to do & See! Hotel ad says "gym centre ", I have more gym equipment in my small garage let alone all their equipment was covered in a layer of rust and torn covers labelled "out of service"! The island itself is amazing although most places open Tuesday-friday so best to go there during the week as no tourist based businesses operate on a weekend! If the weather is bad you will get bored pretty quickly as the locals shut down during the rain! There is no places to catch waves snorkeling on the beach is the only water activity available as the reef and ocean are dangerous! We are foodies and feel most let down in this category as most fine dining resturants offer food equivalent to pub food here in Australia! The locals couldn't even identify one of their traditional meals let alone were we could get one! Everything on the osland closes by 9pm! Good place to go and unwind and switch off from the real world

Perfect place to relax

We spent 8 days at the resort to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. It was the best holiday ever. Our private pool villa was amazing. The staff were awesome and our stay was made more memorable by watching humpback whales frolic in the ocean when we had breakfast! I would not hesitate to recommend this resort.

Great place to relax

Pros: 1st class all round
Cons: nothing
Location: the whole island is only a 40min car ride so all amenities are close. It is a place to relax and recharge the batteries.
Great place to relax, private quiet, great food and service, entertainment and cultural night excellent. Front desk service excellent, helpful.

Penny pinching attitude by management meant there was no generousity of spirit about the stay which we did enjoy but was easily esclipsed by the Muri Beach Club and Hotel where we moved onto.

Pleasant stay

I had a courtyard villa with pool which was lovely, spacious and private. I found the rest of the resort quite open, where ever you walked or sat you could see straight into the other rooms. The main pool is especially overlooked so I didn't use it. The beach seating is great and the water accessories (kayaks etc). Special mention to the turn down service as this was especially lovely. The gym is terrible, rusted equipment that doesn't work and let's the hotel down. The Windjammer restaurant is fantastic and was my favourite place to eat on the whole island.
