October Cottage

Stayed here for nine nights and experienced all Rochester weather from cold rainy nights to beautiful warm sunny days. The fall foliage was reaching its peak and was putting on a great show. Had a great time visiting relatives and friends in the area.

Cottage on Cranberry Pond

Our stay at David and Linda's delightful cottage was wonderful. The cottage itself was bright, airy, and clean. Air conditioning was available but we chose to open the windows and let the beautiful breeze in. There is a good sized deck with a nice big table and chairs for dining, and a very lovely sitting area. There is a great grassy area in front of the deck with a wonderful fire pit. The sunsets and sunrises were spectacular, as well as the amazing swans the came to visit us every day. We really didn't want to leave!! We had a great stay, and will definitely be back. Thank you to David and Linda for being wonderful hosts. Joanne and Eric

OUTSTANDING - Could not have been any better!

This cottage is what you hope to secure when looking for a vacation rental. It was spotless, (and I am very picky in this area), had everything and more than was in the description, beautiful and safe area and Dave was fantastic to work with. This is the way all vacation rentals should be. It was an easy process and delivered what was promised and more. We look forward to returning!

75 years and counting

From our first communication David impressed me with his friendliness and willingness to accommodate guests. The cottage was immaculate and well equipped with everything we needed. The extras provided were a bonus that provided hours of entertainment for my guests, especially my grandson who loved canoeing. I wanted a peaceful getaway to celebrate my birthday and I was more than pleased with how perfect this turned out to be.

Wonderful waterfront property!

We stayed at this property in mid-September, 2021. The house was immaculate and well-maintained. We enjoyed opening the windows and doors to take advantage of the cool breezes from the pond. The back deck (facing the pond) was a favorite spot - morning, noon, and night. Very conveniently located to many goods and services. We're already planning our trip for next year. Thank you!

Charming & Peaceful

This is a quaint, gem of a place to stay. The location on the water, the neighborhood and the cozy home are perfect if you want to get away without being too far from the city. We appreciated that the interior and exterior were ridiculously, meticulously clean. Such a pleasure to be confident in that, especially during these times. No white plastic chairs on the deck. Very nice upgraded furniture to make watching both the sunrise and the sunset comfortable and relaxing. Very nice upgraded air conditioning panels for each room, stocked kitchen, laundry room, bikes, etc. We have no complaints! Per other reviews, though, be sure to bring water shoes!

Picture Perfect

Our host, Dave, was detail oriented, yet very flexible. The photos on VRBO are spot on, as the cottage was immaculate, spacious, and very homey! The views of Cranberry Pond from outside AND inside were spectacular and have left us with wonderful, lasting memories!

Perfection on the Pond

The cottage is so beautiful and comfortable. It's got plenty of charm and the view of the lake can't be beat! There are spectacular sunrises and sunsets to admire as you sit outside on the lovely patio or on the swinging bench. Just take in the magnificence! Dave was a superb host, very kind and helpful. He pays close attention to detail and is very thorough. The house had everything I needed and I was happily surprised to find out there were bikes to use! I enjoyed riding around the lake everyday! I was sad to leave after my short stay and can't wait to go back again! Thank you Dave!

Quiet and Comfortable

We had such a wonderful stay! Such a beautiful comfortable cottage! Pictures can’t capture how lovely this house is. David truly added charm and comfort in its updates and space. Plenty of room for four adults and a kid to be comfortable. Such a great neighborhood and convenient to everything! Loved swimming in the pond every day. And if you enjoy fishing there’s plenty to be caught! David was so attentive to making sure we felt right at home. And we definitely did! Truly hope to return! :)

Magical location

I needed a small place close to the family I was visiting and this cottage was perfect! Lovely large kitchen, dining and living areas were enjoyed by all. Beautiful setting on Cranberry Pond. Couldn’t have asked for more.

A wonderful experience from start to finish

We couldn't have had a better time staying at this cottage on Cranberry Pond. The cottage was immaculately clean when we arrived, and we couldn't have loved the location more. Our kids had a wonderful week swimming and fishing off the dock, and we all loved taking the canoe out to explore the vast reaches of the pond. A week of watching great blue herons, ducks, and cormarands, building fires in the firepit, taking in the spectacular sunrises and sunsets, and stargazing at night was just the relaxing getaway we all needed. And the cottage was super-charming -- our kids loved the secret little rooms between the upstairs bedrooms and the bikes in the garage. Dave couldn't have been a more welcoming host, and the neighbors were so kind and friendly to us all week long. We also spent a couple of days at the nearby Lake Ontario beach, which is just beautiful. A couple of notes for prospective guests: There's a Keurig coffee maker, but if you prefer using fresh beans/grounds, bring your own coffee maker, or a pour over/french press. Otherwise, the kitchen is pretty well-stocked (though you may have to get a little adventurous sometimes if you need more than one pot...might want to bring a saucepan, come to think of it.) We couldn't recommend this cottage more, and hope to make a return trip in the future.

Relaxing pond getaway

We had great communication with Dave before and during our stay. He is very involved at the property and was available to assist with issues quickly. He worked several days on the new paddleboat launch, which unfortunately wasn't usable during our stay, and he assisted when the cable tv did not work (was resolved on day 3). It was nice that we had the help, but we wished these things were ready before our vacation. The cottage was comfortable and nicely updated. The kitchen was well stocked, but could use a few extra tools and supplies (ie. liquid measuring cup, extra garbage bags for the bathrooms and kitchen) Dave was nice enough to bring us a step stool for our daughter (almost 4) so she could reach the sink and be more independent. We felt very at home and enjoyed the beautiful views of the pond. The sunsets were wonderful. The air conditioners were nice on the really hot days, but on the cooler days we were able to get a nice breeze with the windows open. Our daughter loved her upstairs getaway, especially the closets where she could hide out and play. We spent a lot of time in the backyard and riding the bikes. The yard was more than adequate for our use, but we also spent time at Grandview Park (just a short walk) and two afternoons at Ontario Beach Park. We enjoyed the fire pit to end our days, but did not find anyone local to buy firewood from so we ended up getting wood at Wegman's. Swimming in the pond was so relaxing - the water was shallow, calm, and the perfect temperature. It was one of the highlights of our stay. The property is beautifully landscaped. We saw many monarch butterflies around the flowering trees along the property line and we enjoyed the birds, ducks and other animals. The area is very peaceful and it is conveniently located to pretty much anything you need. You wouldn't know it because you really feel away from it all. Overall, aside from a few inconveniences in the beginning, we had a wonderful stay. We loved the location, pond and atmosphere and would recommend staying here if you're looking for a relaxing getaway.

Stunning views. Cute place. Everything you need to relax, swim, fish or boating in the canoe. The vibe of a quiet lake community with the amenities of everything Rochester has to offer. Dave the owner is just simply a responsive, helpful and all around decent guy.

Cozy & comfortable, rejuvenating & relaxing get-away on the water

We were thrilled to find and rent this spot for a rejuvenating week away from home with two kids. David met us at check-in and walked us through everything. He communicated courteously via text and was available if we had needed him. The house was the perfect size for us, with the two kids' bedrooms upstairs and master bedroom downstairs. The master bed is advertised as having cable TV which it didn't for us, but we didn't miss that feature. The two full bathrooms (one on each floor) were convenient. We appreciated having a washer and dryer to use in the basement. One suggestion I would have is to add a clothesline of some sort for drying laundry or wet swimsuits outside. The layout of the house with deck (table has umbrella for shade), yard, and fire pit near the water was very convenient for hosting our friends and family for dinners. The sunrises and sunsets were spectacular and peaceful. The kids loved watching the fish leap out of the pond. We spotted a very large turtle making its way through the front yard, and a deer walking down the road. The purple martin bird houses next door brought beautiful birdsong to the waterfront. We never got around to using all the bikes in the garage, but we used and enjoyed the canoe and pedal boat. While the start of the week was cool, it warmed up and then all the air conditioners came in handy. There are several fans available as well, which we appreciated. It was hard to leave even though we had a whole week to enjoy our time on Cranberry Pond. We truly hope to return to this lovely, quiet, and peaceful home away from home.

Wonder on the Water

Dave's cottage on Cranberry Pond was everything we hoped for and more. The property is in perfect condition, spotlessly clean, and Dave is a meticulous host who provided service above and beyond what we have come to expect from many home rentals. The cottage sits on one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the Rochester area, stocked with plenty of fish to catch, with amazing neighbors on either side. Garage parking, plenty of room, a grill, two boats, ample seating, and a fire pit provided the relaxing environment that we have been seeking. We will be back for sure!

The Great Mother's Lake House

We had a wonderful time! It was all that was promised! It was my birthday and my family was there every day not to stay all night as they live locally but in and out most days. The weather was sunny for three weeks. How did you do that David? I thought I ordered it from Wegmans but maybe it was you who made the weather perfect!

Great little get away

The property was everything that we wanted. We were hoping to be able to use the dock and pond some, but the water was high and out of anyone's control. The new deck on the back was a surprise and very nice for us to enjoy the view of Cranberry Pond. We had a great time and we will definitely be back.
