Nightmare holiday!

On our first morning we were woken at 8am by deafening pneumatic drilling from the adjacent property. Despite constant complaints to Vrbo and to the owner and the host nothing was done to help us. We asked to be moved or a refund to allow us to find our own alternative accommodation but no help whatsoever was given. The building work continued for all of our holiday. Vrbo said any refund was up to the host and owners and they said no refund would be given as the villa we rented was as described. We had to leave the villa every day to escape the horrendous drilling and building work. We took recordings of the noise we experienced every day from first thing in the morning until the end of the day and pictures of the building site in the garden next door. We rented a HOLIDAY villa and Villa Cactus was certainly not fit for purpose!. We paid a lot of money to Vrbo and the owners and we were sold a nightmare.

Kleine ruimte en matige keukeninventaris

We hebben zelf een keukenschaar moeten kopen, die we uiteraard achter hebben gelaten.Slechte koekenpan, geen hapjespan, geen plastic bewaarbakjes.De douche in de tweede badkamer was onbruikbaar omdat de douchekop niet goed vast zat aan de slang.Over het geheel wat klein voor vier personen.

Ideaal verblijf waar je overal aan en bij bent op korte afstand

Het verblijf was rustig en toch overal dichtbij. 's Avonds gingen we steeds uit eten met tal van mogelijkheden in directe omgeving. Restaurant El Carreton aan het domein is heel lekker en goedkoper dan elders.De eigenaars van het huisje zijn Italianen maar heel vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Je kan er alles aan vragen. Door een verkeerd huisnummer in de gegevens dat men doorgestuurd had zijn we heel veel tijd verloren en vonden we het huisje niet. (nummer bestond gewoon niet) Dit probleem zou ondertussen opgelost zijn.Als we een minpuntje zouden noemen is dat de televisie geen wifi of internetaansluiting heeft en de koffiezet aan de kleine kant is, voor Belgische koffiedrinkers. Maar voor de rest alles prima in orde, zeker aan te bevelen!

Excellent complex, brillant service and cosy bungalow

Our five-week vacation & remote work stay at Villa Cactus was very nice. The "Santa Fe" complex is very clean and well-kept, the two pools are large and fenced, with a separate toddler pool. There are plenty of sunbeds around the pools and you can walk to Playa del Inglés in only 10 minutes. Shopping facilities are within walking distance; for supplies we recommend Mercadona supermarket in San Fernando. The accommodation itself is nicely furnished, there are two bathrooms, two bedrooms and a fitted kitchen. There is no large oven, but there is a microwave, a kettle, washing machine, hairdryer, towels etc. - so you can actually travel with only a small suitcase per person. The internet is very fast and reliable, but the fuse sometimes blows if the washing machine is running and you want to boil water at the same time; pay attention to this before joining an important Zoom call or similar ;-) Big bonus: We didn't find a single cockroach in the whole time; however, there are many pigeons that leave their dirt behind. The only drawback of our stay was the beds, which were too hard for our taste. However, Pietro tried to make all our wishes possible - including a replacement mattress, which made it bearable. We recommend the accommodation, even if we think that the prices for vacation apartments in Gran Canaria are too high these days. But the demand is probably there ;-) Kind regards
