We arrived later in the evening and the valet stand was put away, so we were left to figure things out which in downtown San Diego is not the cheapest or most convenient thing to do. The hotel was trendy and the staff was friendly. Our room was cute but not that comfortable. The bathroom was tiny. The Diptyque toiletries were cool and smelled lovely but the bathroom was tiny - very very tiny. Unfortunately, one elevator was broken and the other elevator is really small, so we ended up taking the stairs more often than not. (We were on floor five) I know I’m coming across as a bit negative, and I hate leaving so so reviews. I really want to like this hotel more. Again, the staff is super friendly and the hotel is chic in a rustic boutique kinda way. It just wasn’t for us.

Staff was very nice. Room was very clean. The one thing I can say is that I wish both elevators were active. I understand the historical value of these elevators but most of my stay i was using the stairs and I was on the 9th floor:)

This is the most beautiful boutique hotel. A step back in time but with all of the modern amenities.

The elevator is original, built in 1913. There is only one elevator for Staff and guests. It broke down twice on our 1 day stay. We had to walk to our room that was on the 11th floor twice,if it wasn’t out of service it was extremely slow and had to wait 10-15 minute minimum for the elevator to arrive. This hospital is not friendly for disabled or elderly people.
