Rooms are stuffy, stinky and awfully humid with inefficient . AC that did not work when we were there. The hotel needs love and help desperately.

What a pity. This hotel is excellently placed in the middle of the Castro and would offer an ideal location for a family visiting the city because of the proximity with public transportation and the liveliness of the Castro neighborhood. It is however very poorly cared. We opened the room to face unbreathable air, stuffy, stinky and awfully humid. AC are kept off when guests are not in the room, and cannot be set below a certain temperature which means that one needs hours to get some relief and get the room habitable enough to stay in. The HVAC broke a few days later and the only option they offered was to leave the doors of the room open to recirculate air! Really? At a motor lodge? Bed sheets had stains and the beds were only approximately done. They showed us an alternative room that smelled of smoke and had the toilet flush not working. Front desk personnel was kind but totally oblivious regarding preparedness and care of each room. A missed opportunity for a place that otherwise has no competitors in the Castro. It would take such a little effort to make of this place a jewel, and instead it is ran as a hostel.

Awesome hotel

Great hidden gem. Loved the history and the retro style as well as the parking. Super convenient and well maintained. Only recommendation would be to upgrade the windows for a little more sound dampening but on the good side, they do provide earplugs. Would recommend and will stay again

We loved the location of this property. Close to everything we wanted to do. Our only complaint is the room was very warm and took a long time to cool off. The AC was not very strong, could not lower temp (locked out), and windows are secured to only open a few inches. Would consider staying here in the cooler months.

Stayed here a few weeks ago and the room was small but clean and well appointed. The elevators weren’t working but I didn’t mind the stairs to the third floor. I was going to stay there again this week but cancelled due to their A/C and heating systems being out in a lot of rooms. But I loved the nearby restaurants and the area felt very walkable, though we mostly used Waymo. I would stay again when they get their issues resolved. Very clean and I love that parking is included.

Beck’s was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The owners are great. The rooms and terrace are very nice. Tons to do and see nearby and lots of public transit options. I would 100% stay here next time m in SF.
