Quick check-in, staff was friendly and efficient. Only negatives were our room TV had a screen going out, it had an annoying white dot with everything we watched. The hotel is literally a block from the hood, just south of the property, and numerous homeless hanging around. Luckily we had a 3rd floor room overlooking our vehicle, which we did check on, several times during our overnight stay. I'm assuming the reason for the key card access to each floors hallways, prior to reaching the room doors. Trying to keep the riff raff out. Cleanliness was on par, bedding sheets, pillows and comforter were thin and not very comfortable, as were the locker room towels.

This hotel was very nice, clean and updated. There were 2 reasons I did not give it a 5 star. First, the shower was extremely slippery. I needed to use a towel on the floor to keep from slipping. Also, from the pictures of the breakfast area it looked like a hot buffet type breakfast. In reality, doughnuts and waffles. It was fine but not what I felt was advertised by the photos. Otherwise, very nice stay.

My stay at Avania Inn of Santa Barbara was absolutely wonderful. The room was spotless, comfortable, and very well maintained. The staff was friendly, professional, and always ready to help with a smile. I truly appreciated the peaceful atmosphere, comfortable bed, and great location close to everything. From check-in to check-out, everything was smooth and welcoming. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend this hotel.

We paid $311 for one night, which was far too expensive for what this hotel offers. The room smelled heavily of strong cleaning chemicals, which was uncomfortable. Our room was on the first floor with easy outside access, making it feel insecure. The toilet paper quality was very poor, and breakfast was minimal — only machine coffee (not good), bananas, apples, and cookies. The location is close to downtown, we did not feel safe walking or accessing our car. While it’s close to downtown, the surrounding area didn’t feel safe, especially at night. Balcony was essentially just a small enclosed space where you could sit, not a real balcony as expected. At a much lower price, this hotel could be fine, but for this rate, I wouldn’t recommend it.
