Great Properly... A bit dated, but overall pretty nice. It brought a bit of old charm, and you could tell that at one point in time it was pretty luxurious... Definitely not the Four Seasons!

Great location and staff, minor issues with the property. Had a roof leak in our room occur, found hours after we had checked in. Was told they could not offer us an ocean view room as a replacement as we reserved and was only offered 5000 Hyatt points in consolation (not even equivalent to the valet fees) once we decided to stay in the room. They didn’t even provide fresh towels after we had used them to clean up the water due to one of us slipping in it. Definitely unfortunate but overall had a good time with our family that we had convinced to stay there for Mother’s Day weekend as a fun way to get together. But definitely disappointed in the over all situation, and wish it would have been handled better.

It is a nice property, but our stopper in the tub wouldn’t close. Our room was on the first floor and the people above were walking around at 2 am and woke us up. Lots of doors slamming as well. The room was okay, had low ceilings and felt cavernous.

Concerns this visit - but will be back

We love the Mar Monte and have stayed here 12 or more times over the past 5 years. This visit - Our room smelled mildewy and musty. This was concerning. Heater made a lot of noise. We confidentially shared our concerns with front desk staff that this room needs work and should likely not be utilized to guests in this condition. We were instructed to provide this input in review and follow up with Director of Rooms, Danielle Shear, as we re doing.

Lovely beachside hotel

Staff were immediately welcoming and lovely. They accommodated our 7 month baby with a pack and play and high chairs at the restaurants. The room is thoughtfully designed and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay and the proximity of the hotel to the beach, wineries, restaurants and zoo

Bad service

The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. Whenever we would call down for towels or anything it would take repeated phone calls to the front desk and the wait would be at least an hour or more . I will never stay here again.

The property had everything we needed for our stay as a family. The rooms are ok but not every room comes with a balcony or an ocean view which we were a little disappointed about. Also the phone in the room was not connected so when I needed to call the front desk I had to walk to them as no one was available when I called using the posted phone number from my cell phone.

The staff was not the friendliest. They tend to look more like we are bothering them by staying there. The walls and flooring are thin and you can hear other people staying at the property. A guest above us left their dogs alone who were crying and howling for at least 3 hours. I told staff but they didn’t do anything about it. The plus was the beach across the street and easily accessible.

We have stayed here twice, this 2nd time after their upgrade. It seems like they updated some of the furniture, but not the actual structure. It feels dark and old. Our room, which cost about $680 a night with the fees and tax, had a ground floor view of the parking lot. We couldn’t keep the window open. The room was small with a cabinet placed in the room to serve as the closet. There are no drawers for clothes, no full length mirror, no space in the bathroom to place your toiletries. It’s just the basics here. The pool and jacuzzi are too small for the number of guests they accommodate. At 8:30 at night there were about 8 kids in the jacuzzi eating ice cream and dunking their ice cream cups and spoons in the jacuzzi water for play. The location is great, the patio off of the lobby is nice. We enjoyed the breakfast at Costa. I wouldn’t stay here again though. We booked last minute and this was one of the few properties with availability. Now I see why.

Overpriced, mattress pad doesn’t fit and no fitted sheet. Every night the bedding comes completely undone and untucked exposing the mattress and bunching up and sleep was rough.

Nice for solo trip

The service was great and the front desk employees and valet were really nice. I appreciated the late checkout and help with beach amenities. I wish I used the bikes and beach chairs more. The hotel could use some updates and walls are thin. Otherwise, I enjoyed this option for my solo trip!

This property is outdated, smelly, moldy and musty. Don’t be fooled by the beautiful lobby. The hallways are dingy and dark and they smell like a porta-potty. Rooms are tiny and have a musty smell. My allergies went crazy because I’m allergic to mold. I couldn’t wait to leave the hotel. We stayed one night on our way up to Big Sur. I could barely sleep at night. There were all sorts of sounds. The sound of banging pipes, footsteps from above, and there was a weird knocking sound as if someone was hitting a credit card against the nightstand. I also felt a very strange heavy energy in our room. Not sure if it’s haunted or what, but I felt off the moment I stepped into the room. The valet parking fee is insane as is the resort fee. We luckily found street parking and had the resort fee waived. We checked out at 7:30am because we just couldn’t wait to leave.
