The home is named for the mountain that the home is nestled at the base of - lovingly nicknamed the Alger Alps. :)

Glenhaven Lakes is a small residential community in Washington, nestled in the low lying hills of Alger Mountain and the Chuckanut Ridge. Situated half-way between Bellingham and Burlington on the I-5 corridor, Glenhaven Lakes is truly a Jewel of the Northwest. Home to eagles, deer, geese, and ravens, this excellent location is perfect for heading out on your next adventure.

It`s close to many different recreational areas and everything the Northwest has to offer. Less than an hour and a half to Mt Baker Ski Area and the Mt Baker National Forest. About 15 minutes to Galbraith Mountain Biking Trails: Over 50 miles of singletrack that winds through over 3000 acres overlooking the city and Bellingham Bay. Hiking trails abound - the closer ones are the Alger Alps Trail, Lookout Mountain Forest Preserve. There`s fishing in nearby Cain Lake with a boat launch for non-motorized boats - it`s fantastic for kayaking, too. Nearby Lake Whatcom is large and beautiful!

There is great hiking, biking and boating in the area and a few of the trails are within walking distance of the house. Though we suggest that you plan on driving to the area attractions of Galbraith Mountain, Lookout Mountain, Lake Whatcom, and beyond to Mt Baker National Forest and Mt Baker Ski Area.

The home is within the Glenhaven Lakes Community. Access to the facilities in the community are available to residents only.

As a retired architect with lots of allergies, it’s always mandatory for me to stay in a well designed and immaculately clean home. This home, Alger Alps, successfully met both needs!Extra touches added to the experience included table decorations and many paintings by Lynne that I really enjoyed. Dog food, toys and bedding plus chips, s’mores, all the spices you need and tea and coffee ready for your first morning, were also very thoughtful. Jackie is very helpful with any questions, making the entire experience wonderful.

Family trip June 2025

We really enjoyed staying at this house. It was spotless, felt brand new, and was very tastefully decorated. We wanted to use the 2 bikes but the tires were flat and there was no pump. After sending Jackie a note the next morning there was a pump at the front door. I highly recommend this property and the management co.

This is a beautiful place to be!! we loved the location. The home was beautiful, very very clean, with all the little things there that you need but may have may have forgotten!! we were greeted with a beautiful handwritten card and all sorts of goodies, s’mores and wood ready for a relaxing evening at the fire pit! There is plenty of room, chairs, and couches to sit on, games to play, and just general good vibes for relaxing! Jackie was a great host. Wonderful to communicate with and checking in on us during our stay as well. I highly recommend this beautiful home which is like your own personal hotel with four separate bedrooms, beautiful bedding, awesome showers, everything was so clean very cheerful light and airy feeling would definitely recommend this to anybody and would even stay there again Thank you so much for having your home on Verbo and providing a nice choice to stay!!

Family and friends event in Burlington

Some snafus with check in but the hosts we available and quick to help resolve them. The home is lovely - just as it appears in the photos. Nice details set it apart - our daughter enjoyed snuggling in the lush blankets, local chocolates on the bedside and towels neatly folded on each bed. If we ever need to return we’d be happy to stay here again!

Wonderful family getaway

We had 8 people stay during Christmas and absolutely enjoyed the home. It was very clean and well equipped. Plenty of dishes and equipment to cook holiday dinner. The rooms and beds were very comfortable and the hosts went above and beyond to treat us with little welcome gifts. I would absolutely stay again. One of the nicest rentals we’ve done.

Perfect Place for a Family Visiting for Western Graduation

House is beautiful, clean and spacious with 4 bedrooms and a pullout couch. It was perfect for our whole family when we visited for WWU graduation. Kitchen is well-stocked and the primary bathroom has a lovely soaking tub. This is one of the nicest VRBO properties we have rented!

Family Gathering

We've enjoyed many VRBOs, this one is outstanding. The house is beautifully outfitted with many thoughtful amenities, very comfortable beds and bedding, fabulous kitchen/family room with lots of natural light, large couch and chairs that provided plenty of seating, over-sized TV, and for this home-cook the kitchen was a treat. We explored Bellingham, Birch Bay, local lakes and hikes. Our only regret was that we hadn't booked a longer stay! And not least, communication with our host was excellent.

Large house in the hills

We were pleasantly surprised at how large the house was. The furniture was nice, everything was more or less brand new. Definitely a full time rental property (vs someone’s home), which provides benefits of cleanliness and uncluttered-ness. seems like a very nice neighborhood and gave 4/5 stars for location only because it was a bit difficult to get to with non-4WD car during snow and ice. We felt the rules/instructions were a bit restrictive (water use concern with septic system) and unclear (recycling requirements) but these were very minor; overall had a great experience. The kids loved the place. Extra points for house preparation - everything we needed for cleaning was available, and we encountered a brief area-wide power outage during an ice storm over the holiday and the house had flashlights in each room’s nightstand! overall 5/5
