After spending 5 nights at the Mercure Icon and exploring Singapore quite extensively, the reviews on location were met. A lot of options via walking or a quick few stops on the MRT which was effortless.

Huge new hotel

Huge hotel in a great part of Singapore. Rooms were on the small side, but we were only in the room to sleep. Very clean, efficient and busy. Gave it a 4 star as the hot water system failed one morning, other than that, we would definitely stay there again.

Hotel Overall is nice and staff is friendly. There were several glitches with no hot water as the system tripped and shut down. Same with the elevators were completely shut down. Must have some major electrical issues. Breakfast selection was boring and not worth the price. Good location.

As a business traveler, I really didnt like this modern hotel. The rooms are very small with limited space for clothes. There are no coffee making facilities in the rooms. There are no irons in the rooms and if you ask for one they'll point you to the communal laundry and reluctantly deliver to you; but the irons aren't steam, and are poor quality. The room a/c is quirky and has a lower limit that you can't defeat (21c). The gym is way too small and the equipment, such as the treadmills are cheap. The hotel coffee shop is supposed to open 7.30am but the surly operator will tell you to come back later, because she needs time to "set up". The wifi seems to require regular re-input of email, but with no password I wouldn't trust the security of it at all. There are MRT stations within 5 minutes walk and the location is excellent for Chinatown.
