Come relax and enjoy our bright and spacious year round lakehouse retreat - Skipping Stone Lodge in Buffalo Sands!

Whether it's summer, winter, spring or fall, it's beautiful time to head for the lake.

Need a place for a summer vacation? Spend your days soaking up the sun, building sand castles and splashing in the lake (less than a 5 minute walk from the house). Kids like to play in the sand? Load up the wagon with buckets and shovels and head for the beach! Got a boat? Bring it along - there are boat launches within a short distance at both Rochon Sands and White Sands (no cost at either launch and and there is a place to park your vehicle/trailer while you are on the water at each). After a day of fun, enjoy a BBQ on the large deck while the sun sets.

Looking for something to do during the winter season? Bring your Skates!
Just steps away from the house, the neighborhood pond is maintained with a skating oval and an area for a friendly game of hockey - including nets! Lace up your skates, brew up some hot chocolate, build a fire in the outdoor fire pit and enjoy the winter with some family time outdoors.

Love to fish? Buffalo Lake is a great lake for fishing in the summer and the winter. The most common fish in the lake are Northern Pike and Burbot.

A perfect getaway from from the city with all the comforts of home. Only 1 hour and 45 minutes from Edmonton and 2 hours and 15 minutes from Calgary. Need supplies?Groceries? Looking to eat out or pick up some take out? The cottage is only 20 minutes from Stettler where you can find anything you may need during your stay.

It was a wonderful place for our family to gather for Thanksgiving. The space was perfect for the 10 of us, lots of room for everyone. The house is very well stocked with everything we needed, and the hot tub and ping pong table were a bonus when the weather turned nasty. We also enjoyed all the mowed trails available for walking and biking, a very nice area.

Wonderful place

The hosts responded right away to all messages. The house is well stocked with everything we could want. The beds are very comfortable. The hot water on demand quit working but the owner came the same day to fix it.

We absolutely loved our stay. The house was beautiful, clean and had everything our family needed. We had three generations staying and each one of us had a floor to accommodate, which worked out great. The hot tub was fantastic! It truly was a home away from home for us. We were surprised how close we were to beaches, Old McDonald’s Farm and Stettler, which has great shopping and all the amenities you could imagine. The community of Buffalo Sands is very friendly and welcoming. There is a beach and a children’s playground a very close walk. We also love that the house backed onto a pond where we could have quiet mornings watching the birds! The host was amazing at communication and takes a great deal of pride in their home. We highly recommend this stay. We felt like it was an amazing place to recharge at a great price!

Exactly as advertised. Totally met our expectations. The best equipped VRBO we have stayed in. We also enjoyed visiting Rochon Provincial Park and Stettler. The Tuesday market is a must.

Great Family Getaway!

The house is gorgeous! We loved the ping pong table! There were so many board games, puzzles, movies and Wii games that we didn't need to bring anything from home. The kitchen was well stocked with all the basics. Bits that could have been better: recognizing that only TP is flushable, garbage bags in the bathroom bins would have been helpful. The kitchen was surprisingly not as clean as the rest of the house (bathrooms were spotless!) - nothing bad, just needed another wipe down. Hand soaps in the washrooms were heavily scented - unscented would have been better. Oddly, the neighbour was blasting music on a Sunday afternoon. I messaged the host and she told me to go over and chat with them myself. Sigh. I didn't booked a self check-in location because I wanted to deal with people.

Excellent Girls’s Getaway

7 friends spent 2 nights and had a great time. It was great to have 5 bedrooms and fully stocked kitchen. We really appreciated small things like Saran and tin foil. There was tons of room to spread out and each have our own little corner of the house and outdoors. Would return.

Christmas Vacation

We had a fantastic stay here. 11 people total including 2 under 7 and 2 teens. We had more then enough space and were all very comfortable. The house has alot to offer and you can just show up with your pwrsonal belongings. Beautiful wood burning fireplace, gas down stairs. The hot tub was really nice too. We will most certainly be booking some time here this summer if available. Also communication with the hosts was amazing.

Christmas at the cabin!

We rented this house for our 13 member family as we took them on the Polar Express Train. The location was perfect: 25 minutes from the train. The house was great. We had the two youngest sleep on the floor and in a playpen in the upstairs master bedroom so there was room for all of us. The hot tub is always loved by kids and adults alike. Lesli was always prompt with her responses and was very accommodating. There is a great little hill to a 5 minute walk away so bring your crazy carpets if you book in the winter. We highly recommend this rental space! Thanks Lesli and Dan.

We had an awesome stay. The weather was great if a little warm. Our hosts responded whenever we needed something which wasnt often as we had just about everything we needed. The cabin is wonderful and roomy for all the family that came. We have been twice now and are hopefully planning a third trip.
