Village Atmosphere near Heathrow

Pros: Great staff, good location, pleasant enough beer garden, easy stroll to the river, old village atmosphere.
Cons: The operation of the lights so that beside lights work independently. Some fittings do need attention e.g. bathroom sink was cracked.
Location: Short cab ride to Heathrow, traffic permitting. Easy access to River Thames and Windsor Castle. Pub, a couple of mini marts, a couple of restaurants.
Stayed here the night before flying out. After an interminable bus ride from Heathrow Central Bus Station to Slough Rail/Bus Station, then cab to Datchet, it was a very pleasant surprise to be within walking distance from the Thames across from the grounds of Windsor Castle. The hotel's address, Village Green is just that. One of a group of old buildings making up what looks like a village precinct. The hotel is very old, so don't expect new and shiny. The room was small and clean, the common rooms comfortable. It was the staff that shone. Friendly, helpful and efficient, from carrying bags up the steep flight of stairs (no lift) to booking a cab for the next morning, they made our stay very easy and hassle free.
