Best Western - accommodation in Smiths Lake

A family-friendly place with beautiful pool, splash zone, playground and jumping pad. The river view cabins really do have a full view of the river. The boardwalk is lovely but very short. At one end is a stagnant lagoon that smells awful, but at the other end it's a beautiful broad platform with tables and a fantastic view. Everything is clean - amenities, cabins, pathways. The pedal cars are very worn and well beyond the point of being adjustable. The seat popped off ours mid-ride but luckily no injury. Wifi is available but not strong enough to run any streaming on the tv so the staff recommend connecting your phone to wifi then hot-spotting the tv, but if you don't turn OFF mobile data first, the tv will run using your phone data - and if you do turn that off it won't work. This didn't bother me as I wasn't there to watch TV, but it's an expensive misunderstanding for anyone who tries it (and some people do want a bit of tv on their holiday). Check-out was scary - you leave the key in an unlocked box, so anyone could take it and let themselves into your cabin, take/damage things. To avoid risk, check out in office hours, or take your vehicle out then walk back to your cabin and lock the key in if they allow that? Check-in was meh - staff were chatting and ignored me for a few minutes then did basic check-in. When we returned for something else we had great service, with our child receiving activity sheets, etc that were not part of our inital check-in.
