In room 422 that I stayed in, had a cockroach and bed bug. While checking out on October 13/2025, I reported this to the lady at the reception, she was totally unmoved and mentioned that she would have someone look at it, that i it. No apologies, no sorry feeling, nothing. We booked two rooms for the total family and did not get rooms side by side, originally we were offered rooms on the second floor and fourth floor, but then we were accommodated on fourth floor, room 422 and 427. Priscilla (?) at the reception on the night of October 11th night, apologized for the inconvenience 1000 times and tried to do the best she could do, but I guess it was beyond her control, but she was nice and very helpful. She also offered four cups of milk for my father and kids of my brother, she was very friendly and welcoming. Overall, the stay was ok, could have been better.

I would be inclined to give this place a 3-star rating, but I cannot believe how inflated the Expedia rating currently is, so I am giving it a 2. The place is OK. The property is in dire need of a refresh, but it is not falling down or anything. The major problem was cleanliness -- there were clumps of food by the sink and I found a previous guest's soap and empty shampoo bottle in the shower. The carpet was gross in the way it is sometimes in older places. I always check for bedbugs when I check into a room, and it took me a while here because I did find bugs, but they weren't bedbugs -- I had to do some research to find they were carpet beetle larva. Not a major problem, but I also prefer not to have things crawling on the bed. I booked here because it was rated as a 9.2 on Expedia at the time -- I cannot see how it could come by such a rating honestly.

The staff was the best part of our visit. They were very helpful and friendly. The room had spots on the carpeting, the bedding was dirty, the bathroom had hair and dust. The carpet had a huge spot on it, I found what looked like dry dogfood on the carpet and not sure if the spot was from a dog urinating. The front desk staff was excellent and friendly very kind. Honestly I stayed at this hotel because of the great ratings and I just wanted to let you know for an honest review.

Great room.

Room was lovely. Service desk was super helpful. Breakfast was awful. Potatoes were hard and tasted uncooked. Egg omelet thing wasn’t good. We ended up throwing it away and making a waffle instead.

Disappointing. I chose this over cheeper options nearby because I've usually had good experiences at Microtels. Our room was generally acceptable except the following: the carpet had too many gross stains, the stool evidently ran all night and then wouldn't flush initially this morning (I took off the back and got it to work), there was a house centipede in the bathroom sink, and there was an old chunk of caulk laying on the edge of the shower. I shared these issues with the woman at checkout and she was minimally apologetic. On the positive side, the women at check-in was super friendly and the breakfast was especially good for what it was.

My stay was okay. The room was alright. The carpet was very dingy and dirty and got my feet dirty which was less than pleasant. The hairdryer was dirty and covered in hair and there was no ironing board in the room. The AC worked well and the room worked for somewhere to lay my head. I stay in Saint Clairsville about once a year and probably won’t be back here.
