Rude, rigid, demeaning check-in experience, the first that I have ever had, anywhere, including in total dives in very underdeveloped nations. The receptionist was fawning all over an airline crew. When they were all done, I stepped forward. Big mistake, supposedly. You see, what I didn't know that I was required to do, was to stand far back with my back pressed against the wall, leaving them the entire floor to make their sacred exit, as appropriate for higher order members of the royal court. Of course, whether I stood at the counter, or back against the wall, the exact same floor space was taken up. So I was instructed to move back and wait. Then we were allowed to come forward, as the receptionist quickly removed from the counter all the stupid little baggies of signature cookies, which he had carefully laid out for that Almighty Airline Crew. It's symbolic of the whole hotel: pretentious, snotty, and definitely over priced. Rooms are ugly and constricted, filled with useless design elements. The rooms are also very dark, even when you light all the dumb little lamps, because the ceiling is dark navy, and the carpet is dark. The whole place is a money-sucking joke. We are grateful that the hotel let us check out early, with a refund. For that kindness, they deserve 5 stars.
