Our stay at the Pear Tree Inn St. Louis near Union Station was a mixture of unpleasant and pleasant. Be cautious when booking a stay at this property through Expedia! We thought we had prepaid for our room and were unpleasantly surprised on arrival to learn we hadn't. Because of this, the price of the reservation for one night jumped up more than $50.00! We had to wait extra long for our room to be cleaned and ready as well. (We would rather wait and have the room properly cleaned, so this isn't a giant issue!) Our room, however, was very stuffy on arrival. The thermostat was sitting at 77 degrees. We turned on the A/C and left for the SL City soccer match for which we had tickets. When we returned, the room was still sitting at 76 degrees. Our experience to that point had been highly subpar, and we were on the verge of just writing the property a terrible review on our return. Thankfully, I decided to speak up. The staff at the desk came to our room soon afterward to see what could be done about the A/C in our room. A few minutes later, they were able to get the system reset, and our room was far more comfortable for the remainder of the night. The staff at the hotel were very kind and helpful. The next morning, we needed to get a very early start, along with several other guests. Breakfast was still being set out and prepared when we left at 6:30 a.m. That was disappointing as well. (The ladies were trying. Getting mad at them wasn't going to fix anything.)

We liked the attached restaurant and free breakfast buffet. It was close to the hospital and was average price. We were disappointed in the brand. We expected it to be cleaner, more spacious, and more comfortable. The bed was too firm and the chair sunk down too far to be comfortable. The lighting was good. There wasn't a makeup mirror. The shower was mildly difficult to operate. There was a good selection of drinks and snacks in the hotel shop. We would recommend with a warning that the beds were extremely uncomfortable. The most comfortable place in the hotel was in the lobby.

Doing construction around the property, so front entrance is mostly fenced in, just one-lane entry/exit. Property is showing its age, especially with new hotels and new soccer stadium around it.

Happy Hour not as advertised.

I was not aware of the happy hour service. Very disappointed its owned by drury and advertises the same happy hour but it is much different. Only chips and pretzels for snack. and bear and wine only for drink choices.
