If you're keen to get going, plan to start your day by surveying the perimeters of Peter and Paul Fortress. It's pretty highly regarded. Kronstadt Fortress and Gosudarev Bastion are also worth considering. When you can't get enough or if your camera's just getting started on the scenery, head on over.

St. Petersburg has a whole bunch of amazing mansions and palaces that have sheltered the region's more prestigious residents. State Hermitage Museum and Winter Palace and Catherine Palace and Park in Tsarskoye Selo are a couple of rather famous locations that you and your mates must make tracks to. Still keen as mustard? Make sure to visit Peterhof Palace and Garden and Alexander Palace before you fly home.

This region is renowned for its range of divine sites. Church of the Saviour on the Spilled Blood and Kazan Cathedral are the most visited of these old structures, with St. Isaac's Cathedral and Trinity Cathedral standing as two other good options.
