PERFECT WEEKEND GET AWAY
This was the perfect weekend get away! My partner and I needed a weekend away, and the space is so much larger than the pictures look. The space was private, but still allowed us to see what was going on around us. It was a much needed getaway with the perfect quiet location.

Weekend getaway
Overall the place is a nice quiet getaway in the woods. Be prepared for lots of DIY when it comes to the sauna and all other wood burning stove fires. An issue for concern, if you stay in the Shire Suite, the front room is solely heated by the wood burning stove and the ventilation is very limited. VERY smokey throughout our entire stay. Also there’s a tin roof so if it’s raining (it did our whole stay) the noise is REALLY loud making it almost impossible to sleep. Pray for no rain at night. Evie for massages is great!!

Sweet get away
We enjoyed the quiet and peaceful atmosphere. Massages were good. A little distance from fine dining but cooking there went great.

A bit bizarre
I was in the Shire suite, modeled on a Hobbit house. The room was quite decent but the lighting was very dim, especially in the bathroom. There was a shared kitchen that was ok, the inside of the refrigerator was unappealing. The ice machine was broken, I was directed to a second messy kitchen to get an ice tray from a refrigerator. The exterior of the property was weird. There was a 35 foot motor yacht dropped in a pond, I think the idea was a houseboat but it was abandoned. The grounds had piles of construction debris. It was also a very hot week so being outdoors was not an option. I cut short my visit.

Cute spot to spend a night or two
We arrived shortly after the check-in time. Directions to the place are simply put, parking right next to the suite. We were greeted by Nelson, who was great, showing us around the Barn and telling us to go look around the whole property. I was slightly confused when booking, and confused the Shire suite with the Hobbit house, i thought they were the same, they are not. The Hobbit house is a newer addition and is not attached to any other building.
The Shire suite is attached to the Barn, which itself is already a huge building. You have to enter through the barn to get into the suite, which wasn't a problem. My main issue was tidiness. It seemed normal to have a few spider webs here and there inside the barn, but inside the Shire suite there were quite a few. It was very clean, but it seemed like it was sitting like that for awhile. All if the sheets and linens were clean and nicely folded. I just wish someone had gone through and swept up the spiderwebs in the corners of doors, i had walked through and to the bed one time and my husband had pulled a spiderweb with a spider hanging from it from my hair. Then another bigger spider hanging out by the toilet door.
The communal kitchen has pretty much all the basics, that too, could probably use a little bit more love as well.
I loved that David provided a list of things to do around the area.
Overall we had a good stay, it was cute and cozy, and would probably stay again if we found ourselves in the area again

a little getaway
My girlfriend and I were just scheduling a little getaway during spring break and we decided to check out this cute locations in the woods of Virginia, as part of a short road trip.
David, the host has created a unique vacation environment that has a highly artistic flair and is as much like a community as it is a resort.
My friend and I booked a shared space for three nights and then we booked this special room for one night. I had never booked with Vrbo for one night before and didn't realize the fees would equal a full night's stay. For the reason, I did not check out when planned because I thought I had two nights. David and his cleaning crew handled my mistake graciously however, I would not recommend booking for one night on Vrbo, as the fees are too high.
