Most of the staff were quite friendly. The property appears to have been a school at one time but the hotel is very dated. As the reception is about 5-6 steps above ground level, it was difficult for us to bring our heavy suitcases up. The room window was very drafty and lets in the cold wind during this February visit. The bathroom appears to be 40-50 years with virtually no grout left between the tiles. The hallways had a strong musty odor. The restaurant offered mixed results. They took 55 minutes to bring a sirloin steak (their most expensive entree) that was undercooked for my taste. Their breakfast buffet was above what we expected.

Stay at home, massive disappointment

Arrived early but couldn't book in. Then told I had to pay for parking, despite my online booking saying it was free .. i refused pay. King size bed wasnot king size, 2 beds shoved together not what i booked. The bath had 2 holes in it, ceiling had paint peeling, complimentary water was a small bottle between 2, a glug each lol. Cupboard doors broken, cold draught through metal windows. Oil heater provided as central heating not working.Over all place needs condemning or hotel refurb. Spa facility all booked up and was told upon arrival we should have prebooked as all slots were fully booked.. then why does it not say prebook on websites at time of booking to avoid disappointment.. all in all, a 900 mile round trip for a spa experience in a nice hotel was anticipated, .... would have been more satisfactory in a squat, better still, should have stayed at home. Wont go near the place ever again.

Lot of noise from the upper rooms, not very comfortable and I strongly disagree about the parking fee, also the breakfast did not accommodate for not pork eaters

An historic stay

I love the Stirling Highland Hotel. It is a little dated but the rooms are a great size with a clean spacious bathroom. The thing I most love about it though is its history. You can still see the fine bones of the school it used to be and every corridor and classroom is still there but with a new purpose. It is so easy to imagine it thronging with kids. Being built around a quad is particularly charming. The leisure suite is great too with a lovely pool area and great gym.

Great location for overnight break

Overall happy with stay, Hotel in great location and all the staff friendly and helpful. Lovely bar area to relax and prices not too bad for a hotel. Room itself was ok but comfy. Bit rough around the edges, things like marks on walls and furniture. Other thing was buffet breakfast, when we arrived the things that were available had clearly been on hot plate too long, bacon and potato scones so hard could not eat. They were waiting to bring out scrambled and fried eggs but couldn’t wait as everything else was going cold and I know they didn’t appear for another 10 mins. Would probably not pay to include breakfast if went back again, rather go to a cafe and order fresh.
