Paid $116 for a night in an effective prison cell, didn’t even have a top sheet. Shared amenities, no cooking facilities, couldn’t even boil a kettle (unless you bought your own). Definitely would not recommend this place

Positive but Honest Review – Motel Sunshine Coast I stayed one night at Motel Sunshine Coast after arriving from an international flight. I’ll start by saying the management were absolutely lovely — very welcoming and accommodating. The property is clean and well-maintained, and the location is convenient. However, I do want to point out that while I should have read the listing more carefully, this is truly a motel-style accommodation with shared bathrooms — more like a high-end hostel in terms of layout. If you're expecting a private hotel-style experience, it’s important to note that shared facilities and limited parking are part of the setup. The rooms are quite noisy — not from traffic, but from other guests. You can hear full conversations from the adjoining rooms. I was grateful I had earplugs after my long flight, but light sleepers might struggle with the lack of sound insulation. That said, if you're looking for a clean, well-managed, budget-friendly stay and you're aware of the shared amenities, it could be a good option.

Although it’s called a “motel,” it’s more accurately a hostel. The room is extremely basic—just a bed, a fridge, and a few shelves. Noise was a major issue. Doors often slammed throughout the night, and people talked loudly in the early hours of the morning. While I can’t confirm it, I got the impression that some residents had been living there long-term. A few displayed eccentric or antisocial behaviour, which made me wonder whether the place also functions as emergency housing, possibly for individuals with mental health issues. All things considered, it’s not particularly cheap for what you get. I wouldn’t recommend it.

A backpackers ? Motel

Misleading advert on the website, very limited car parking, Shared toilets and showers not highlighted in booking procedure. This photo of the lounge is in the public area not in your room. It’s very basic accom. Breakfast included is a joke it’s a BACKPACKERS and not even a basic motel. Sorry for the real review but it’s genuine.
