Unfortunately power was out in Swellendam during our stay (of course not their fault) but generator was kept on only for short periods of time. Otherwise, beautiful property gardens, pool, and luxurious accommodations.

Hotel is nice but certainly not 5 star luxury. Staff were in the large part helpful other than in check in when we were informed we could only eat dinner at a certain time despite the restaurant not being overly busy. Also rather worryingly in one of the bath robes we discovered the underwear of a previous guest. When we complained no offer of compensation/ good will gesture was made....

Gardeb route stop off

Staff on arrival were not overly friendly. We were informed if we wished to stay for dinner we needed to let them know our food order by 4pm. Then when we requested to eat at 7.30pm we were told we could only have a table at 7pm. This was despite there being a table for each of the 7 rooms so a little odd... The staff on checkout were a lot more friendly and accommodating to our requests for breakfast etc.

We had a lovely short stay at this quaint estate property. We were greeted with enthusiasm and the entire stay was equally as well serviced. We had dinner and then breakfast in the morning. The dinner was absolutely delicious...beautifully prepared. The breakfast was so abundant that we struggled making choices. The service was impeccable and the staff was delightful. We did not use the swimming pool or spa services. It was a bit cool for swimming and we did not have time to take advantage of the spa. The decor in this older estate has a contemporary African twist with numerous African crafts and artwork adorning the walls. It was most pleasant and I highly recommend it.

A sad experience in a beautiful place

This is a very nice boutique hotel. Our overnight might have been perfect but for a very disappointing arrival, having to change room because faulty heating. When I left a comment about less than adequate arrival, management was offended and responded with lots a baloney. That eliminated any positive view I otherwise would have had of this expensive place.

Nothing but praise

Great location. Just up from the main street in a lovely area and beautiful hotel grounds.We had a great check in and offer of an upgrade which frankly we did not need as the room we had booked was lovely. . The buildings are full of character and very well modernised. The Team Members were very helpful for all our needs and they clean your car every day! Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant for breakfast and Dinner served very fine food and plenty of it. A nice bar with not quite a hundred gins!Great attention to detail to make your stay a great experience. This was one of seven hotels during our visit and whilst I would not want to put any at the top of the list we would stay here again for sure.

A relaxing and luxurious stay in wine country

De Kloof Luxury Estate was true to its name - a luxurious stay indeed! The lady at the reception was very courteous when we arrived and offered us a free upgrade (from the Deluxe room) to the Manor Suite since we were on our honeymoon. The suite was huge including a nice jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. We also used the spa during our stay and the spa experience was really good. Both of us loved our massages which helped us relax a lot in between our hectic travel schedule. The breakfast was also pretty decent given that we are vegetarian.

Excellenct hotel! TOP!

One of the best hotels we have ever been stayed at. Everybody was very friendly. The breakfast and the service were great. The room was fantastic and very big! We were so lucky to be upgraded to a suite.
