Overall a very nice stay, the food quality was superb and the bedroom was exactly as expected. My only complaint was the welcome we received on arrival, it felt like we were an inconvenience to the hosts and not a paying customer.
Lovely friendly place, room exactly as described. Great spot for exploring Devon/Somerset from. It would be nice if breakfast was included in the room rate, not the best value for money.
Another relaxing stay. A warm welcome at the Rock Inn. The bedrooms are very comfortable/clean with the nice touch of real milk (no little jiggers), real coffee and home-made cakes to welcome you.
Dinner was, as always, very enjoyable. My duck was expertly cooked & rested to it melted in my mouth. My wife's omlette Arnold Bennett was very "fluffy" with lots of vhunks of smoked haddock. The stciky toffee pudding had lots of sauce & cream - lovely!!
The Rock has a wide range of local ales & selection of gins. The Otter Ale was very clear and went down well!!
Breakfast had lots of local produce and home made jam & marmalade accompanied with very good coffee and "proper" orange juice.
We will be returning soon.
At first appeared that I had made a mistake. Outside seemed little tired, but once inside very pleasant. Room was excellent from wide screen TV to good wi-fi all the 21st century desires. On site restaurant and bar top notch, very wide local produces available on varied menu, prices low for the food and service. Full English breakfast also with local sourced produces.
A characterful old inn family run with truly excellent food at dinner cooked by husband/chef. Rooms tastefully apportioned. Our standard double was small & there was a bath but no shower. Ideally located in deepest rural Somerset for serious walking & Hestercombe House/Gardens not far away.
A lovely inn with comfortable, clean and relaxing accommodation. Food "top notch" - the Somerset Brie Souffle was devine. Great ale too.
Breakfast, freshly cooked, with "real" thick toast and homemade preserves - superb.
Myself and a friend came to visit watterow for a wedding. We stayed at the rock in because the pictures online looked scenic and very well kept. We arrived and received a warm welcome and the room was beautiful. Loved that the building is 450 years old makes such a nice change to stay in somewhere that has real history to it. Breakfast was delicious and cleaning staff very polite
We were only staying for one night as a a place to put our heads down whilst attending an event nearby but we would definitely return. Our room and the rest of the hotel was beautifully decorated and clearly maintained to a high standard. The welcome homemade brownies and fresh fruit were greatly enjoyed. We were setting off in the morning before breakfast was served but a lovely tray of granola (again I think this was homemade) and croissants along with fresh orange juice was provided which was greatly appreciated before a long drive home.

Great food but no room in the restaurant
The welcome was good although when we arrived it was closed, we tried to book a table in the restaurant but they were fully booked so we had to sit outside to eat, the food was good quality, well cooked and presented. We stayed in a room at the top, the bed was very hard, the shower was not useable as a stand up shower however the room was very clean.
Fancied somewhere different for an overnighter en-route to Cornwall. What a great little pub. Shown to our room by our lady host. The room was lovely with a great shower. Nice touch of fresh fruit and a piece each of homemade brownie. The bar and dining area were very pleasant, and the local Otter ale went down very well. The meal was frankly superb, and well worth paying that little bit extra. Overall an excellent night.
