The restaurant is known to be excellent (I did not have an opportunity to try) and location is convenient but the hotel badly needs investment in a modernization of the rooms - for a hotel in Wassenaar they are very dated. My third floor room smelled mildewy.

A grand old Lady well past her prime

Fletcher needs to invest and update the hotel. The room was adequate but carpets worn and scruffy, curtains had bald spots, bathroom OK, no amenities, no coffee maker. Restaurant thrives on past reputation but when we were there a party in the other room kept us waiting for dinner for over an hour and when it arrived, it was cold. Waiting staff is incredibly sweet and helpful and that was a nice plaster on an otherwise unremarkable stay. Wassenaar is a beautiful area but isolated. A restaurant nearby called Meijendaal has great Dutch specialties and great walks. Hotel does provide bikes for the athletic.

It was adequate .Beds comfortable, room clean and a good size despite being booked as a ‘small room’. Decor a bit dated, but so what. Suited the period property.Bathroom large. Breakfast fresh fruit bowl was probably a couple of days old and they need to address that. Very classy area. Daughter had a second room and agrees with my comments.

Spring trip

The staff had very limited English with no menu in English which is unexpected in Holland. The staff was pleasant but they were very few. Receptionist was barman and restaurant waiter.

This hotel is dated needs a complete overhaul.

Old rooms and beds no airco just open windows to get fresh air and i was there at the end of a heat wave. Many stains on the carpets including the hallways Needs new beds and better bathroom towels It is in a great location and area but I don't think much money has been invested into upgrades in the past 40 years

Hotel in need of refurbishment - all a bit shabby. Dinner was good and reasonable at 30E for 3 courses plus a nice selection of wine by the glass. Breakfast was so-so. Room was large but freezing and the heating system noisy and not so effective. Nice staff, very friendly. Wouldn't stay again until money is spent on the place

very poor food in restaurant one evening

Long wait of 45 minutes for menu, food took another 75 minutes to arrive. Food poorly presented and cooked, with soggy frozen and partially reheated lasagne, vegetarian given meat, no apology from waiter. Angus steak totally different from same dish previous night, when it was good. Chef appeared to be absent from kitchen?

This hotel needs a serious make over of the rooms.
