Beautiful unique boutique hotel with 5 star potential that is unfortunately managed like a 2 star Comfort Inn. Great rooms, decent amenities, but horrible breakfasts and a fairly disinterested check in and check out process. Sad. It could be so much more. Pity Marriott didn't acquire it...

I did not actually stay at the Courthouse Hotel, but I would still like to give them a 5-star review because of their excellent customer service. A few hours before I was scheduled to arrive, I got a call from the hotel, advising my that the A/C in my room was not working and that the problem would not be resolved before I arrived. Since the forecast called for hot and humid weather, the hotel offered me a reduced rate or the option to cancel without penalty. (They could not offer me a different room as they were fully booked that night.) After conferring with my husband, we decided to cancel our reservation. I was disappointed that we could not stay at the Courthouse Hotel, but I was very grateful that they notified us proactively, so that we could make other arrangements. After such outstanding customer service, I will certainly plan to stay at the Courthouse Hotel on my next visit to Thunder Bay!

Really neat hotel from the former Courthouse. Excellent bed comfort, extremely clean with good toiletries. Quick self serve breakfast fit our bill and was an unexpected bonus.

We were impressed !

This was everything it said it would be, a classic building with high ceilings and tall windows. Breakfast was wonderful and great service. Lots of friendly staff from our coming and going.

Very disappointed this time

They didn’t have the room I specifically booked and in fact it seems like they switched my booking to a parking lot view room with no air conditioning. I have read over reviews that say they discriminate against non Canadians and I truly believe this. They were very rude and unwilling to help in anyway. Will never attempt to stay here again

The staff was great, but the air conditioning was out for half the hotel and we had to use fans in the middle of August. The carpets were grimey and the hotel is in a sketchy part of town. We didn’t feel safe outside at night. I would stay somewhere else.

A unique feel to this property. The charm of the former courthouse was felt even with many modern touches. The air conditioning was being repaired in our room and the staff informed us of this upon our check-in and even escorted us to our room to ensure that we were comfortable in our room. Very clean and quiet hotel. The breakfast was delicious. Would definitely return to this property!
