I never entered the apartment.This booking failed due to poor communication and unprofessional handling by the host.The host contacted me on Saturday afternoon asking about my arrival time. I replied that I was scheduled to land around 9:00 p.m. I messaged again when I landed in Toronto. Despite this, I received no further communication or check-in instructions.By late evening, after flying, traveling downtown, and waiting for hours without access to the unit, I had no choice but to contact VRBO and book a hotel at my own expense. The host did not message to say the unit was available until after 1:00 a.m., far too late to be helpful. Frankly, it raises many red flags regarding my safety.Rather than apologizing, the host later implied the situation was my fault and offered a refund only if I agreed not to stay and to never contact him again. This interaction felt inappropriate and unprofessional. VRBO has been notified about this incident.Clear, timely communication is basic hospitality. Unfortunately, this was not provided, and I would not recommend this host.What a terrible way to treat a visitor to your city. Do better.
