Green pastures with native flora and fauna await your visit to a quiet and private ranch on 10 acres of land. This getaway is a recently renovated ranch house with expansive views from every window. Watch farm animals graze, listen for native bird songs and enjoy spectacular star gazing. The house is just a short drive to Hawaii Volcano National Park and the village with restaurants and art galleries. Plus a nearby lush and secluded trail with old growth of rain forest vegetation. This unique home is one of the kind that will enchant you and make your vacation experience in the Hawaii Volcano National Park even more memorable. Custom-built in 1969 with real solid wood from top to bottom, this country house was recently renovated and upgraded without losing its original charm. On the ground floor there are 2 cozy bedrooms with comfortable queen beds, a semiprivate room between the garage and kitchen with a trundle bed and a bunk bed, and a large bathroom with a sunken shower/tub.
The main living room has a fireplace that keeps you warm on chilly winter nights. A second living room with beautiful Ohia post, French doors, stained glass and enclosed lanai/sunroom.
The spacious master bedroom with a California king-sized bed, a queen bed, and a beautiful bathroom on the second floor can sleep a family of 4 if need be.
French doors/windows, Ohia wood posts, stained glass art, etched mirrors/glass, mosaic Koa wood floor... are unique features of this home that will charm you. This place is ideal for family reunions, group/couple retreats, romantic getaway, animal lovers, writers, artists, etc. due to its large size (3000 sf indoors), high ceilings, open spaces, big yard, quiet/idyllic and inspiring setting. This home is not child-proof, hence not safe for small children, but we welcome older children (>7) as this is a fun place for them to explore, esp. with a petting zoo/farm right across the street.
Outside in front of the house, there is a lava rock fire pit for making bonfires and a huge yard to roam around. Nighttime offers brilliant views of the milky way and brightest stars. There is a barn on the property where the animals take shelter on rainy days and nine acres of pasture land with grazing sheep. You are welcome to walk on the pasture to enjoy the quietness and serenity of this place as long as you are careful when interacting with the animals and don't forget to close the access gates to keep any curious animals safely at home.
You need to bring warm clothes for occasional blustery days and chilly nights. The elevation is 4000 feet and the temperature is definitely cooler than down the mountain in Hilo or Kona. But that's also what makes it such good hiking and exploring weather.
