Historic Tuscan Hilltop Villa near Volterra with Heated Pool & AC

Escape to the Tuscan countryside at Podere Maiano, a private hilltop villa just outside the historic Etruscan city of Volterra.
Surrounded by rolling hills and the timeless landscape of Tuscany, Podere Maiano combines the authentic character of a traditional country property with the comforts and amenities of a modern vacation home.
The villa features four spacious bedrooms, two with king beds and two with queen beds, each with its own private ensuite bathroom. Heated bathroom floors, a combination of showers and bathtubs, air conditioning, and Wi-Fi provide comfort throughout your stay.
Outside, relax beside the private heated swimming pool, enjoy the peaceful Tuscan countryside, or simply take in the views and tranquility that make this part of Italy so special. For added convenience, the pool area also has a full bathroom.

A Place With More Than 1,000 Years of History
A stay at Podere Maiano offers something particularly special: a connection to a landscape with roots stretching back more than a millennium.
Historical research based on the medieval Regestum Volaterranum identifies Maiano as an ancient locality in the upper Valdera, approximately 3 km north of Volterra—the area in which Podere Maiano is located.
Medieval records describe Maiano as the site of an agricultural estate associated with the Bishopric of Volterra, with documentary references to rural holdings in Maiano reaching back to the 10th century.
The history reaches even further into the past. Archaeological records document Roman remains discovered at Podere Maiano itself, providing another fascinating link between the property and the ancient landscape surrounding Volterra.
Today, Podere Maiano continues that centuries-old connection to the Tuscan countryside, surrounded by farmland, rolling hills, and the extraordinary history of nearby Volterra.

Stay at Podere Maiano and experience more than a beautiful Tuscan villa—experience a landscape shaped by more than a thousand years of history.

Wonderful holidays in Tuscany ! The house was exactly as advertised, very comfortable, with AC in every room (which was very useful during hot waves in the middle of August) and bathrooms for each room. We slept like babies the whole week. The swimming pool was also great, after long trips in Firenze, Pisa or Sienna. We actually chose the location to be about an hour from all the main spots in Tuscany, but we were very lucky to find this house, 15 minutes from Volterra (the city at night is very nice). Its location on top of a hill, with a real 360 view, is amazing (the magic of drinking a Spritz at sun down with the view). Our hosts were great, always available to answer any question. Thanks again !

Podere Maiano is a truly wonderful villa. Perched on a hilltop the 360 degree views are spectacular. You will be hard pushed to find a villa with better views than this. The property itself has been recently renovated and the owners have decorated it perfectly capturing a wonderful balance between showcasing the original features of this farmhouse whilst mixing modern and traditional furniture that works wonderfully together. The owners have created some beautiful spaces outside too, the pool area is thoughtfully designed with a shower and wc and the pool itself is heated which is an added bonus. The location of the villa is just the right balance of countryside peace and quiet but still close to the beautiful Medieval town of Volterra which is just 10 minutes drive away. Local must see visits such as San Gimignano, Pisa, Siena and Firenze are also easy to get to and if you fancy a day at the beach you can also head to the sea in under an hour. Our family had a wonderful time here and we would love to return again soon. To cap it all off the hosts were brilliant, very welcoming and extremely helpful. Highly recommend.

Wonderful villa. Pictures don’t do the views or the interiors justice. Wouldn’t change anything . Pool was spectacular with nice covered space and open areas - along with those magnificent views.Owners were exceptional!
