Nice place to stay in Waseca near the Doodlebug walking trail and Loon Lake. Responsive hosts. Vacation rental is located in one portion of the first floor of a renovated historic grain storage building (part of the historic EACO mill site), so the outer walls are very thick. This means it is a quiet indoor space when windows are closed. Two bedrooms and a cozy kitchen with quiet dishwasher, nice fridge/freezer, and great stove with versatile gas range.Great for visiting family in town or a quiet getaway for remote work or vacation.Location is also a short walking distance to downtown (places to eat and shop), the library, Trowbridge park, the hospital, the courthouse and veterans memorial, and Loon Lake park. It is also about 2 blocks to a Kwik Trip for an easy quick grocery trip or a variety of groceries from Walmart is a short drive. Farmers’ Market is Saturdays at the fairgrounds (a short drive).Loon Lake is a shallow lake with lots of birds in summer. Calm lake for kayaking and bird watching.Birds we saw on the lake included American white pelicans (many, nesting on the island), black (or double-crested?) cormorants, great egrets, Canadian geese (& goslings), blue heron, and wood duck.Other birds nearby we saw included northern cardinal, hairy woodpecker, goldfinch, crow, purple martin, grackle, turkey vulture, chickadee, chimney swifts & a Cooper hawk family.Recommend stopping by the library, which is a hub for local info and events.
