Firstly the concierge who had no name badge, was far beyond rude and made me feel embarrassed because I was a little bit early and was just checking if the room was ready. He told me that he thought my room was clean and then gave me my key. I enter a room which was right on the curb side. I felt very unsafe as a solo female traveller. It had a most foul smell. The shower wouldn’t stop dripping. The lamp shades and ceiling were mouldy. The sheets had yellow body stains. The fridge contained food from the last residents. There were squished bugs on the walls. The floor felt like it had never been vacuumed. I was so horrified. When I went back to the concierge and said I couldn’t stay in that room because it was unclean, he rolled his eyes and left the desk. I had no where to go as he wouldn’t talk to me. It was a very traumatic experience then having to find accommodation in a city I didn’t know.
