Magical creekside tiny cabin among the tall trees
I really enjoyed my 10 days at this tiny cabin, writing on the porch and on the creekside deck (with the citronella candles going) and going out most days to visit parts of the Blue Ridge Parkway, or GSMNP and Cherokee, Fontana Dam, or yet another trip to Darnell Farms in Bryson City for fruit and their vegan Dream Whips. I love that I could bring my dog to the cabin. I rigged up my own makeshift gates on the two porch openings, but it would be great if the owners could provide two baby gates to help keep dogs or toddlers on the porch. The 8-10 minute backroads drive off the main Whittier/hwy 74 roads and along Conley Creek to get to the cabin is charming. The last mile or two is mainly a gravel road, but it's not steep (although an SUV or all-wheel-drive would be more comfortable than my Honda civic). There aren't any bears for some reason, but there are lots of butterflies and moths and spiders and salamanders and hummingbirds (they have a hummingbird feeder outside the kitchen window). And in the summer heat, I like that it's cooler at the creek and under the super tall tree canopy that envelops the cabin (with a rustic old barn on the other side of the creek). Note that the owners use a property management company that has a lot of other properties, so sometimes they may not be familiar with all the details of this cabin and are a bit delayed in responding to messages sent via VRBO inbox, so it's probably better to call them or email them if you want a quicker response.
