The cabin has a beautiful mountain view. I would note that the driveway is really difficult to get up on the last turn. Having that noted in the listing would be helpful for people that arrive at night. The people sleeping in the basement were freezing. I would also recommend getting a space heater for the basement because the rest of the house was a good temperature and another thing of note was there were a lot of stink bugs on the pillows in the bedrooms, I know it’s a cabin in the woods, but we pay a lot of money for a cleaning fee so less bugs would be ideal. Lastly, the dishes in the cabinets smelled really dusty and some were greasy when we pulled them out. I would recommend taking out the rubber mats that line the cabinets. I think they collect dust. Other than that, it was a beautiful cabin with beautiful amenities. We loved the hot tub and the fireplace. Thank you so much for a beautiful house to make so many family memories in.

Not able to use the shop that was supposed to be included in the rental, there was a dead rat inside one of the light fixtures above the washing machine, the house was not kept up very well, and it was a hard location to get to even with large 4WD trucks, I will not recommend this home as a rental and I really don’t want to use any property listed with Vacasa because although we reported these issues our complaints were not taken seriously and nothing was done about them.

Please do not ignore other -ve reviews which say lot about property. we ignored them the place is not clean (blood marks on bedsheet, smell, dirty towels, leaking fridge, place pourch was not cleaned . Advertised content was not provided access and they respond you quickly but they take no action. its like talking to deaf who pretends he understood you.property rental is not cheap also , my suggestion pay 100$ more and get the better ones around.

First of all we rented without reading reviews, our bad. Then we read reviews and most of the negative ones were older and some newer ones were better. Photos of the property listed a separate garage with pool table, foosball and darts and that’s why we rented the place. One review stated that the “man cave” was not accessible upon arrival. I tried to reach out to Vacasa, the property manager to confirm is the pool room was available as that is why they rented, they NEVER responded. Several days before we were supposed to go I inquired again about the room and no response. I also through further research and by going to vacasa’s site I was able to find reviews that were not listed on VRBO that were horrible about stained bedding and sheets and stained carpets and the whole house smells like smoke, this is a very deceptive practice by VRBO and the length of time between multiple reports of the same shows Vacasa and the homeowner are complicit in this disgusting property. With this new information and the now state of emergency declaration because of the impending hurricane I asked VRBO for a refund and was told on the phone that would not be a problem and they just needed to contact the property manager. Well Vacasa called and said no refund under any circumstance, including a warning from our governor not to travel to western North Carolina. they still will not refund my money. They offered $100 for loss of amenity because they finally admitted that the man cave was not open

The worst place I’ve ever stayed

It was absolutely disgusting. The carpets are incredibly stained, as are the bedspreads and sheets. Whole house smells like smoke, there were dead bugs everywhere inside and out. The bathrooms are missing multiples pieces of tile. The porch was filled with mildew, mold, leaves, and bugs so it made it totally unusable. No trash can in the house. And it was never mentioned that the last mile to the house was a mile long, steep gravel road. That isn’t a huge deal but should be mentioned in the listing. I was driving a small car and scratched the front multiple times due to the bumpy road steep driveway, so I would have appreciated if I had known that might have been an issue. So beware, the pictures in the listing and the description are totally staged and do not represent the state of the house AT ALL.

Honest Review

I will summarize as best i can. The location is awesome! HOWEVER, it should be noted that you will not get a car up the 1 mile gravel road that is very mountainous! You must have some ground clearance. The only thing the listing says is 4wd may be necessary for snow/ice. The layout of the house is nice. There are things that could be better, but I can live with and there are things that are unacceptable. i preface this because, now doing more research, ALL of these items had been mentioned in reviews as far back as October 2023.! 1. The shower on the main level has a door, that you have to open and close that is barely on the tracks, and is a safety hazard for anyone trying to operate. You expect it to slide and close, not fall off the track and completely come off! There's no handle on the inside to even close the shower once you get in. 2. The shower on the bottom floor has a detachable wand shower head, but to ATTACH the shower head the main piece is broken, so unless you like to shower with one hand you're out of luck. We had 10 people to use one shower. 3. The basement shower has significant mold in the ceiling tiles which has been noted by several. 4. The locked closet in the basement has a HORRIBlE smell coming from it. We think this is coming from the mold, which is probably tied directly to the leaking Refrigerator/Freezer that has been noted for the LAST YEAR that is still leaking. I'm out of room but $400 night, NO! Dissappointed

Lovely view of Gem that needs some polish

Lovely secluded place that was overall comfortable. The views are incredible & we loved being on top of the mountain. Be prepared for the 1 car wide, well maintained gravel path up. There are a few turn offs if you meet someone. The house is in need of a few fixes. They are the same issues others have mentioned in their reviews from over a year ago - leaking fridge, few lights not working, 2 broken bed frames (creating sags in mattresses), & a heavily damaged entry door. These all take our rating down. Sad none of these things have been resolved! It will sleep 14 as pictured and described but kitchen amenities & number of towels provided do not support nearly that number of guests. Nor does the size of the grill. Take TP as we arrived to find only a 1/4 of a roll for the entire house. Game room has missing/broken items. Is a bit musty in there. They do have a nice book collection in the house.

4 days of hell

The house is disgusting, filthy dirty, mold and mildew in basement and bathrooms. Carpeting has not been cleaned in a long time, stains everywhere including vomit. Hot tub stunk and was cloudy, no way would we ever get in it. Cigarette butts and bottle caps everywhere. Several inches of leaves all over the deck, stairs, and patio. The road to the house is terrible, not maintained, ruts and narrow. There is no way that we could have gotten to the house in our corvette, good thing the car we drive has all wheel drive. We could go on but let the renter beware, we will probably never use VRBO again, and deserve a full refund.

A great stay in the mountains!

We had a great stay at this location in the mountains! We were a little nervous because of some of the reviews- some turned out to be true while others had been addressed. The driveway was gravel and long… but this was no issue at all for our vehicles… and almost welcomed because we were off the beaten trail and enjoyed being remote. A great view! It was very clean! A little sparse on the kitchen utensils, no dishwasher and the fridge leaked a bit. We also had to use a back-up key because the keypad didn’t work- but were thankful for the backup key and quick communication with the property manager. The garage was super fun for the kids and we enjoyed the bonfire pit. We were thankful to have found the strung lights near the pit because it was on the far side of the garage. All-in-all… it was a better experience than expected, a great stay… and we all had fun and enjoyed it!

Description did not match the stay

What was promised on the booking description was not given. The driveway was unaccessable with our low profile car. If we had we been told there were two driveways to the house, that would have helped. We could not gain access to the house with the code provided due to the fact that the housekeeping staff double locked the door. Got in through an unlocked sliding glass door. Basement door was broken by a crow bar and was never fixed. Fridge leaked water all over the kitchen the whole week we were there. No coffee pot for breakfast. Broken glasses in the cupboard. Broken lamp shades and lights beside beds did not work. "Game Room" was full of broken cue sticks and broken darts and was unusable, which was part of the reason for booking the house since my son likes to play pool. Stains on bedspreads. A window in the shower was covered with a torn up and stained shower curtain.We took pictures of everything and honestly we should have gotten a discount with what we got for what we paid. When we called the "host" hotline, for help, the customer service staff was rude and unsympathetic, even argued with me when I mentioned the struggles we were having. Had I paid closer attention to the past reviews, I would have seen that some of these things complained about in the past were never fixed and were the same issues we had. Obviously the owner does not visit the site, or simply does not care. This was our first Vrbo, which makes us questions future stays.

heat on the lower level was not good, sent email and was told would look into it never heard back. game room no heat and couldn't play pool because no tips on pool sticks. Overall everything was good and we did enjoy our time there. thank you

Well, we had high hopes..........

First, the folks at VACASA were tremendous!! We had 0 issues with them. They responded in a timely and professional manner to us! so 5 stars to VACASA! As for the cleaning company & property owner, shame on you! You have some work to do! If properly cleaned & the owner spent about 3 days & $2000, the house would be phenomenal!! The view is unbelievably beautiful - could not ask for better! The house is NOT being cleaned...it's having the linens & towels washed & it seemed to be disinfected.....but I would say it hadn't been vacuumed or swept in weeks.....Not 1 vacuum cleaner "trail" on the carpets...not 1.. for the lamp in the living room - it was last dusted in approx 2002....there were wrappers, paper, and dirt behind end tables and in every bedroom somewhere.....we had to wash all utensils and dishes before we were able to use any of them.....oddly, there were plenty of dishwasher pods -- just no dishwasher...One reviewer mentioned the safety of the house...Honestly, I thought "I bet that is an overreaction"....IT WAS NOT! The railing around the upper concrete deck is wobbly at best - I tested it before letting anyone else near it because it looked like it was leaning.....75" tv that was hanging off the wall where whoever installed it, missed the studs on 3 of the 6 mounting bolts & used no anchors!!! I found a wooden box in the den to hold it up and sent pics to VACASA. The toilet on the middle floor is terrible! I basically had to plunge it multiple times - not for "#2, but even for #1".....I told VACASA not to worry about a plumber, I'd just take care of it vs. having to work with a plumbers schedule....If the owner would stop patching & pay a professional to do maintenance, this house would be AMAZING! Know your limits, you're not a sheetrock hanger, nor painter, nor carpenter/handyman!! Invest in your property and stop nickeling and diming it....otherwise sell it to someone who will take the few days & minor amount of money to fix it right - see pics of ceiling tiles covered in mildew! It's a $50 fix..wth? Also, make sure you assign your guests their rooms carefully - downstairs if kept comfortable, the upper 2 levels are a sauna....if upper 2 floors are comfortable, lower floor is an icebox....no in between! Pics are a deceiving as they are not a true representation, but they are real estate pics so you expect that some....what a shame for this house to be in this condition! and yes, I have pics of it all
