Off-grid, no wifi and very noisy

The room has no wifi connection. Staff did nothing to help and refused my request to move room. Reception staff were indifferent and breakfast staff were rude. Room was by the main entrance area with constant noise and no natural daylight.

Great Location but Noisy Night

Shoki Shoki House, Stone Town – Great Location but Noisy Night We stayed one night at Shoki Shoki House in Room 1 (Deluxe Double, Ground Floor) to explore Stone Town before heading to Jambiani. On arrival, we had to wait 20 minutes to check in as the room had just been sprayed for mosquitos. The reception staff were friendly, and the room was clean but basic, with a complimentary minibar as a nice touch. The biggest issue was noise at 3 AM, with loud banging and moving sounds outside our room, likely from maintenance. As Room 1 is next to reception, it was very disruptive, and I struggled to sleep after that. Breakfast was great, with a menu to order from and fresh fruit and pastries served first. The hotel is in an excellent location, right in the heart of Stone Town, close to the beach and main sights. They also stored our luggage after checkout, which was helpful.

We greatly enjoyed our stay at this property! The hotel was very communicative and gave us timely pre-arrival information. It was a prime location next to everything. Specifically, the night market is very close and the ferry port was a fairly easy walk. The property was very clean and the front desk staff were very helpful in setting up tours for us at very reasonable prices. The breakfast options were superb. They were super accommodating by opening breakfast up 30 minutes earlier so that we could eat before we left for the ferry. Highly recommend!

Stonetown experience

Our stay at the shoki shoki house was fantastic. The staff was very friendly and attentive making our stay very enjoyable. The location is very central making it easy to see the sights of stonetown. The breakfast was very good from the selection and the portions were generous.

Great location!

The location was perfect! I really wanted ground floor but was put on 3rd floor with no elevator. To change rooms I was told I’d have to stay extra nights. I had just climbed mt Kili and my legs were a little unstable. However they did help with my bags. The bed was extremely hard. All in all I’d stay again at that hotel

The breakfast was GREAT and lifted our review with a star or two. Other than that, we paid 115$ for a basement room with a hard matress, lots of noise, and a small and malfunctioning bathroom.

Très bien placé, jolie maison traditionnelle. Accueil perfectible (pas très chaleureux). Photos du site un peu supérieures à la réalité des lieux, très simples mais fonctionnels. Un endroit assez roots et très bien placé, tout à pieds y compris la nuit. Pour ceux qui aiment la simplifcite. Tres bon petit déjeuner.

Well located, super friendly staff. We had quite a big room which was super good. It was nicely decorated and was equipped with mosquito net, fan and AC. A bit pricy, but they hotels around were pretty much the same.
