Alpine Style House with Stunning Views, Walking, Biking, Rogla Ski Area+Spa 5km

Our house is set in the small and quiet hamlet of Planina na Pohorju with good access from Ljubljana and Slovenia's second city Maribor. We are positioned on a hillside with stunning views looking into the valley with towns of Zrece and Slovenska Konjice below. Our house has been substantially modernised in recent years with a large open plan kitchen and dining area and breakfast balcony overlooking the valley this room has a traditional wood burning fireplace and a cosy separate lounge, tv area. We have a modern luxury bathroom on the ground floor with a walk in power shower. Upstairs there are 3 attractive chalet style bedrooms one with a balcony another with magnificent views of the valley below the bedrooms are spacious , twin bedded and can comfortably sleep 6 people. We have a terrace to the side of our house for outside dining which is equipped with a traditional Slovenia barbeque. In Summer the terrace is a great place to enjoy breakfast or lunch as it has magnificent views down into the valley. You will find that Kitchen is both modern and very well equipped.
Summer Activities: We are situated within walking distance of an extensive network of way marked trails (maps provided) for walking and cycling through pine forest mixed woodland and pastures. This vast network of trails offers stunning vistas over the valley and surrounding hills.

By arrangement through the local tourist office in Zrece it is possible to combine your walk/cycle ride with a visit to one of the many farms where you can enjoy a banquet of lovingly prepared home cooked food, local produce and snaps.

The area is totally unspoilt and rural in nature perfectly suited to peace and relaxation and sightseeing in general. The climate in Summer generally gives above average hours of sunshine and the mountain location ensures that it is never too hot.

There is a golf course close to the town of Slovenske Konjice about 20min by car. The course is set amongst vineyards and has a stream running through the centre and includes 9 holes with a total course length of 2500m and a par of

Winter Activities: Skiing, Snowboarding and cross-country skiing are very good from December until March in the immediate area. The ski resort at Rogla is not only one of the largest in Slovenia but at 1500m is also one the highest. You will find everything that you need for your skiing holiday ski rental, servicing, restaurants and a kindergarten . A fabulous leisure facility stands at the top of the lift system with Olympic class facilities for both indoor and outdoor sports a pool, thermal baths and saunas.
For adrenalin junkies there is a 1.4km toboggan run close to the Ski Centre.
There is virtually no light pollution on Planina meaning that stargazer's will be treated to a dramatic view of the night sky particularly in the Winter months.

We have a great selection of DVDs, for relaxing evenings books and video console games available for your use in the lounge area. The stereo has an ipod/mp3 connection so you can enjoy your music whilst preparing a meal of just relaxing.

Surpassed expectations

This was an amazing place to stay we could not have wished for more. Gorgeous place, all amenities, very clean brilliantly laid out and a new breathtaking view every morning. Stunning does not begin to describe the views! Local walks are in fabulous forest lots of different tracks and routes to walk/cycle. Minor issues sorted out with excellent communication from Clive.Neighbours who help look after the property, they even put our rubbish out for collection..Will definitely be returning.

Amazing stay in beautiful surroundings

This was our 3rd stay in this beautiful house. Perfect place for hiking, skiing and enjoying this beautiful surroundings. The house has everything you need, excellent communication with the owner. A lovely house in a tranquil and beautiful location

Eastern Slovenia doesn't have the hustle of Western Slovenia in August and for that reason you can have a great holiday here. The mountains are different, high rolling pastures backed by miles and miles of forest makes ideal hiking and biking country. Road bikes, gravel bikes or mountain bikes will be at home here...just be aware if you are on a road bike that some of the higher roads are not paved...gravel!! The scenery is spectacular, the people are very friendly and the food is excellent. The house was large and comfortable....the only downside (for 5 of us) was one bathroom...but that is the only negative and you know before you come. Other than that I would recommend anyone who loves the mountains or beautiful scenery to come and spend a week or more here!

Lovely house in a lovely region

We really enjoyed our stay and managed to ski every day at nearby Rogla which is a great resort for beginners and rusty intermediates. The house was perfect.It was clean and warm with plenty of space. And the views were wonderful. Clive was very helpful and responded quickly to messages. I would definitely recommend his place and Slovenia as a whole.

Perfect winter holiday

This was our second stay in this beautiful house. It is perfect if you like beautiful scenery, short drive to Rogla ski resort, quiet, absolutely beautiful. Excellent restaurant near by and several supermarkets. The weather was amazing and plenty of snow. We enjoyed skiing in Rogla and would highly recommend it. Beautiful house

House was exactly as described, spacious , very clean , lovely neighborhood . View from the balcony was beautiful. Excellent communication with the host, very helpful. One thing that was really missing were bath towels. I know they were not mentioned in the description but I think this is essential . It's difficult for a whole family travelling from abroad to bring towels for everyone. Given that the bed linen needs changing, I'm sure the towels could be washed at the same time. Also, a hairdryer would be convenient. Apart from this we had a lovely stay and will hopefully be back! Thank you

Beautiful views!

This property was lovely, clean and spacious with gorgeous views. It was well equipped with lots of leaflets with things to do. Communication with Clive was great. The 3rd bedroom could do with curtains or blinds for the summer time and an ice /fridge box would've been nice. The only real drawback is next door's dog, who although is lovely and friendly has a tendency to bark first thing in the morning (prob when he's let out) so having a sleep in wasn't always an option!

Our Summer Escape To Slovenia

We had a wonderful holiday staying at the house in Planina. The views are just breathtaking and many mornings were taken up just sitting on the balcony looking down the valley enjoying the sun with a hot brew. Like your last guest; who must have stayed the week before us, we did have a problem with ants for a couple of days when we arrived (especially on the kitchen sink island,) but a visit to the local supermarket for some ant repellent thankfully solved the problem, for us any-ways. There are some stunning walks in both directions as you come out of the house and despite being in the mountains the gradients are not too bad. My wife has a bad back and struggles walking up steep hills but did not have a problem. We made full use of the vast amount of DVDs and watched some pretty good films in the evenings. Comment: The kitchen facilities definitely stated there was a freezer in the property, however, there wasn't, and the fridge was a larder fridge with no freezer compartment, so we couldn't stock up when visiting the supermarket, an inconvenience especially as we were there for 10 days. Some ice for our drinks would have been lovely. We do have one suggestion that Clive and Ruth may want to consider. Sun loungers would have been really welcome, instead of trying to sunbathe sat on a chair. Some days we never left the house and spent our time reading and enjoying the hot weather. Having a sun lounger would have been ideal.

Lovely View with some problems

The home has a wonderful view and is very quiet, but it may not be for everyone. We don't recommend this home for anyone who struggles with stairs....definitely not for anyone with young children. The indoor stairway is extremely steep...to the point of being dangerous. We had a toddler and it worried us continually. The home had lots of ants upon arrival. This can be taken care of, but make sure to ask first. They advertise that the property provides internet, but that really isn't true because you need to go to town to pay for the service and manually top it up each day. Even with all the hassle, the speed is very lacking. Most days our speed was less than 1mbps. Also, towels are not provided in the property so you need to bring your own if you plan to stay here.

Wonderful situation

Much enjoyed stay at Planina. A lot of cold wet weather stopped us using the balconies or terrace, but 3 generations of family all had a great time, and indoor space was comfortable and roomy. We loved the views and found plenty to do around Zrece and Pohorje regions. Hope to be able to return some time.

We felt very welcomed. Even before we arrived, the communication was good and friendly. All our questions were answered immediately. It's a lovely house, with a beautiful view, and very close to the Rogla ski area. We had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend it to other families. Wie schon von vielen geschrieben, es liegt an einem Berg. Der Weg dorthin ist sehr kurvenreich. Schön gelegen. Kuhglocken und Hahnkrähen sollten einen nicht stören. Das Grundstück ist leider nicht umzäunt. Das Haus und dessen Einrichtung ist schon in die Jahre gekommen und man sollte in ein Badfenster unbedingt investieren.
