11 amazing Aussie beaches to get you into holiday mode

Psst. Hey, you. This is a crazy time of year and I know you’re probably flat-out wrapping stuff up at work, getting ready for the holidays, and training your stomach for a month of holiday cheer. But summer’s finally here and you need to unwind with some serious beach time, stat. So put down your phone, step away from your inbox, and tear up (or put away) your to-do list. Here are 11 amazing Aussie beaches to get you into proper summer holiday mode.

1. Burns Beach, WA

Look at that. Don’t you want to just want to climb down those hills and check out the rock pools? Burns Beach is 34km from the centre of Perth, but feels a world away from the CBD hustle and bustle.

2. Noosa, QLD

I don’t believe in early mornings, but for a sunrise like this I’d make an exception. Noosa’s gorgeous beaches, luxurious hotels, stylish boutiques, and upscale dining make for an indulgent beach getaway.

3. 13th Beach, VIC

Those colours! 13th Beach is just west of Barwon Heads and is named for the 13th hole of the Barwon Heads Golf Course, which backs onto it. With two nearby golf courses and excellent surf, it’s a dream getaway for active types.

4. Redhead Beach, NSW

Such a moody pic for such a chilled-out beach! Redhead Beach is in the north of the Lake Macquarie region and is famous for its awesome cliff views, rocky outcrops, and iconic shark tower. It’s a top pick for families.

5. Seacliff Beach, SA

That’s you – paddling off into the sunset, leaving all your worries behind. Or me; I haven’t decided yet. Sea cliff is a secluded private beach just a 30-minute drive from Adelaide and perfect for romantic picnics. Not that I’m dropping any hints 😉

6. Peregian Beach, QLD

Wow! Peregian Beach is on the Sunshine Coast, between Noosa and Coolum. It’s a 10-minute drive from Lake Weyba and Noosa National Park, making it perfect for nature lovers.

7. Palm Beach, NSW

Two words: Summer Bay. If the prospect of having your own Home and Away moment isn’t enough to get you to beach, I don’t know what will. Palm Beach is less than an hour’s drive from the CBD, making it a perfect side-trip to any Sydney getaway.

8. Bondi Beach, NSW

Is it even a Sydney summer if you don’t go to Bondi ? Answer: No, it’s not. Go early for a quiet dip (or hang ten like these cool dudes), then grab brunch at one of the many awesome cafes.

9. Boulder Beach, NSW

Wow. Boulder Beach is 15 minutes north of Ballina, but with sunrises like this it can feel like another planet. Bargain lovers, be sure to time your visit with the huge Ballina car-boot markets, held on the third Sunday of every month.

10. Nudey Beach, QLD

Gorgeous! Not only does Fitzroy Island’s Nudey Beach look like paradise, but it gives you an excuse to say “Nudey” (heehee). It’s not technically a nudist beach, but the dress code is… um… relaxed.  Don’t be surprised if you see the odd butt.

11. Hamilton Island, QLD

Are those colours for real? Yeah, they are. Hamilton Island is one of Queensland’s fave holiday destinations, and for good reason. With stunning resorts, perfect beaches, and easy access to the Great Barrier Reef, it’s a definite must-visit.
