If you are not wanting the usual bland chain style big hotels then the Hotel Craftsmen boutique hotel is a must for your Amsterdam visit. Wonderful hotel built in1652 with different themed rooms. We were in the Cartographer. Due to it being a very old building it has a wonderful steep narrow spiral staircase which adds to the charm. The history timeline is illustrated on the walls of the stairwell which is cool. The rooms and public spaces are wonderfully decorated and the breakfast is simply amazing. The young hip staff…and I mean all of them that we encountered were genuinely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure we were well looked after and we were. The well maintained hotel sits right on the Singel canal with great canal views through the windows with red shutters and is perfectly located to wander aimlessly around to most parts of the city. Stay here for a wonderful experience but as in most of Europe the rooms may be smaller especially head heights however don’t be fazed on this as we would stay here again in a heart beat. You do here a bit of noise from the streets but wouldn’t stop us staying again. Craftsmen thankyou for a charming experience.
