My stay at Neighbor’s Magnolia was disappointing from arrival to checkout. I checked-in at 11am and was told I couldn’t access my room until 2pm and would have to change rooms mid visit. When I asked they said it was because my room would be getting a bathroom renovation. The first room had serious issues: an absurdly dim overhead light, black mold in the bathroom, a foul smell from the shower drain, and only a toggle lamp instead of proper bathroom lighting. The desk lamp flickered constantly. Reception promised a replacement bulb that day—it never came. I requested complimentary laundry service, assured it’d be ready by afternoon—it wasn’t. The next day, staff finally sourced a bulb from another room and committed to next-day laundry. Their welcome guide promised bedding, toiletries, and trash service every three days during my 9-day stay—this never happened in either room. The second room lacked a shower curtain (tracks “not yet delivered”), forcing me to shower with belongings outside as water went everywhere without the curtain. Construction noise from the hotel’s renovations from 8am to midnight persisted throughout my stay, audible in both rooms. The second room’s door knocked constantly in the draft. Positives: excellent location near Vondelpark and genuinely nice staff who promptly replaced my lost keycard. However, the combination of maintenance failures, unfulfilled promises, construction disruption, and basic hygiene concerns means I won’t return.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
And a lopsided tv which I didn’t use much.

The construction on the room next to be happened form 8am until 9pm the first night and 11pm the 2nd. Night. The 3rd night i was told I needed to switch rooms, which was fine as it was way quieter. Staff was all nice and its good they are remodeling the rooms. Just maybe dont rent the rooms on the same floor the construction is.

This property is in a great location. Lovely neighborhood. Lots of dining options. Our room was spacious but not in great condition. Curtains were falling off the tracks. Terrible smell when we arrived. Bathroom is in rough shape. Limited utensils in the kitchen.

To start with the good: The location is excellent, the staff are friendly, and my bed was comfortable. The room price is also good for this part of Amsterdam, Unfortunately there is plenty to disappoint with the hotel. The personnel at reception were unable to correctly issue me with a key card for my room, twice. The entrance area, stairs and landings were not clean, with stained carpets and dirt on the floor. I stayed for 5 nights and not once was my room cleaned, my bed made, my towels changed, or my toiletries refreshed. Although there was a kettle in the room, there was no tea or coffee. The room was mostly clean but there were multiple stains on the walls.

Very cozy hotel, for us it was perfect because we needed a room for three adults. We got a room with very comfortable beds and a mini kitchen with all we needed to cook. A store nearby for food and drink supplies. We had a great time and the staff was nice and helpful, all of them but a special mention for Casper.

Best hotel staff ever!!

The hotel was fantastic. Great location, beautiful and comfortable room, but, above all, the staff were incredible. Casper and Victoria made me feel totally at home and went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. It felt more like staying with family than at a hotel. I will definitely be staying here next time I'm in the 'Dam!

I’m amazed at how these places stay in business. Tired, dingy, dark with every aspect lacking any sort of care or consideration. Christmas decorations still up in mid-March gives an idea of the attention to detail! I booked a room with a balcony as I am a smoker. Told on arrival I couldn’t have that. Instead, they put me 2 floors up (no lift) with a death-trap steep staircase with steps so shallow only half your foot fits. Very old mattresses only made fractionally better by the addition of a topper. Freezing cold room. Tacky carpet tiles on the floor. Thin doors so you hear everything outside your door and thin walls so had to listen to the room next door snoring. Cheap kettle with short cord so can’t reach the desk and no spoon to stir your instant coffee with. 3 miserable days spent here. A mistake I won’t be making again!
