When I booked this property I didn’t realize it was in a restored (plus newer replicas) historic village. It was on the edge of the New Jersey Pine Barrens which is why we booked. The weather was not great and it was relatively early in the summer season so it was pretty quiet. It might be a bit busy later on in the season. Lots of shops and good dining options on site. Nice, comfortable room with a colonial/early 1800s motif. Cool little train that ran around the property.

Staff was very approachable and helpful. Nice, clean and comfortable room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Towels were the best of any I used during my three weeks of travel. The bathtub/shower was slow to drain. Minor issue.

The "breakfast" is a muffin and yogurt with hot and cold beverage. That is a snack NOT a breakfast. Stay at the Johnathan Pitney house. Just as nice and a full breakfast.

Very great place to stay

Very clean, very friendly staff, the rooms are very spacious, stayed here a few times and always come back, always satisfied when staying here. Such a wonderful place to stay if you want to go to AC and want a cheaper option, i highly recommend staying here.

We had a nice continental breakfast, it was very good. It was packed very nicely in a basket and was still warm. It was quiet and the room we had was very comfortable. The bed was comfortable .We had a nice time, and will be back.

We loved the friendliness of the front desk staff. She made check in easy and quick. The cafe was well stocked and clean. We were impressed with the perks that came with our stay. We received free cookies and and a beverage at check-in plus the promise of drinks or more cookies throughout our stay. A light breakfast was provided with between fresh muffins or croissants and included juice, tea or coffee and yogurt. You could enjoy this at the cafe or return to your room with a basket and eat in privacy. The rooms are clean and enough towels and toiletries were provided to last several days. The room included a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. The had plenty of blankets and the pillowes are substantial, not those flimsy puffs of air you get at some hotels. We took advantage of the close proximity of all the shops Smithville had to offer by walking for hours and then enjoyed dinner at Fred and Ethels later that night. We would love to return to this Inn again!

I ws suprised, because of all of the great reviews, to find dirty linen, broken bathroom fixtures, and lack of fine dining. I would not go back to the Colonial Inn.
