Interesting heritage building

Needs a much better breakfast for the price Fresh fruit salad look tired and at least toast should be offered and ideally a choice of breakfast cereal Suggest they invest in individual packs of cereal from Sanitarium or similar

Disappointment from the minute you arive

Pros: Not a lot. Yes it had old world charm but it was sad to see the neglect and state of disrepair. The bed was good. Dinner on the second night was good
Cons: Where to start, housekeeping was very lax customer service was shocking. The stately gardens and surrounding lawns need to be tendered. (hotel sold)..
Location: Not a lot to do around the immediate area. We only stayed there for the interest in the building. We travelled to Wellington for the day.
When you step out of your car the fairy tale comes crashing down. The run down condition of the structure reviled it's self. Upon entering to check-in we where greeted by a dishevelled individual with no shoes and no hosting skills. The morning we checked out our breakfast was served by same individual no foot wear no idea no milk no cups,( we are out of here)

Unclean and Unloved

This hotel would be spectacular if some time and investment were put into caring for it properly. There was a visible layer of dust over everything, and spiderwebs and fly poop everywhere. The windows clearly hadn't been cleaned in months and birds were nesting throughout the gutters and roof. From what I could tell, the common areas were NOT cleaned once during my four day stay, and the shared bathroom was only cleaned once. The grounds were full of weeds and overgrown. I did see one gardener do a small amount of inconsequential work, but the massive property truly needs a team of people to maintain it at it's full glory. I'm so sad that this amazing estate has been left to fade away - I'm sure the owners are very fond of the property, but they clearly are not giving it the attention and investment it needs.

Elegant and peaceful

A fine choice if you're visitng Palmeeston North and wanting an elegant and quiet stay in good company. A walk in the rose garden is highly recommended.

Old Manor House in lovely setting

Pros: Old world charm. Quiet rural setting.
Cons: Just needs a bit of a lift.
Location: Feilding is town only a short distance away which caters well for tourists.
This old Manor House is nestled in lovely gardens and has the potential to be a real treat. It is adorned in period furnishings. However, the building is a little tired and needs a bit of a spruce up to return to its glory days!

Great value for the price

Pros: Very quiet, relaxing, in the country
Cons: See above (put tile of lino in kitchen instead of carpeting)
Location: Tramping, visiting nearby small towns and beaches, farm setting
I stayed at the hotel for a night while on a work trip. I stayed in the hostel behind the hotel. It was great value for the money. My room was very clean and comfortable. Although it was winter, I was plenty warm with a radiator heater and an electric blanket. There's a kitchen to cook your own food. I also enjoyed talking with the caretaker. The house lounge is beautiful for reading and relaxing. I'll definitely come back and stay in one of the house rooms. My only feedback for improvement is I'd suggest putting tiles or lino in the kitchen instead of the carpet in such a high-traffic area with food droppings. I bet you have rimu floors under that carpet!
