Dirty room, no compensation

It's a cultural thing, so don't be surprised if, unlike everywhere else you go in Europe, the staff tell you that you should have come down at 4am when you get back to your room, after having arrived late in the first place, to discover the bedsheets have blood stains on them and the bed's full of sand. There's no phone, and reception is in another hotel. So the whole thing was a pain. Then they'll go as far as to blame you for the dirty bedsheets. An apology is not enough, it is free and meaningless in Spain. Other than that, the room was fine, and 24 hour reception was useful. It's a chore getting to the room from the reception of another hotel, and a heap of drunken louts were shouting over the balconies at each other when we arrived. But that's what Benidorm's all about, right?
