The hotel has potential, but needs some attention. We chose the hotel because it fit in our budget and was close to UAB (for graduation). I didn't even check reviews, as I felt comfortable knowing that it was a Marriott property. The room assigned was not cleaned. And the second room assignment also was not cleaned. The front desk staff worked with the manager on duty to resolve the issue for us and "make things right", so, in the end, we had a comfortable stay. While we were there, I roamed around the first floor by the dining room and the conference room. The chairs in the lobby and outside the conference room could definitely use a cleaning. Breakfast was also late on both mornings we were there because the company serving breakfast was late. What the hotel lacked in "Marriott Standards" was definitely made up for by the staff, who were all friendly, professional, courteous and helpful, without exception. Seems Marriott needs to put a little attention on this neglected gem.

The hotel smelled fresh and clean as soon as you walked in. The room was spacious, clean, and well stocked with toiletries and coffee. We ate supper in the downstairs restaurant, and it was very well priced and absolutely delicious!
