We arrived at 5 PM. Check-in was at 4 room was not ready. Front desk said it would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes we go back up to front desk she gives a key to a room we get there and the housekeeper was just starting cleaning it and she was very rude about us showing up. Only one working elevator, and no ice machines were working on the floors. Also, the smoke detector was disconnected.. I did email the hotel, but have not heard a response.

The staff were very nice. But there was a hammering noise throughout the night that I think must have been the elevator mechanism (really loud!) which made it difficult to sleep. And there was no hot water for a shower. Really disappointing.

dirty, stains on the walls. dirty tub obvious parts of the tub will not turn back white your paying for the name & the location not a luxury stay. beware from the 11th floor you may hear partying on the roof top until 5am although they close shortly after 1am.

We asked every day of our stay for housekeeping to come and they did not show up once. When we called the front desk to ask when they’re able to come, she said very rudely “they’ll be there” and hung up on us. There was only one working elevator and the bar didn’t open on time any night of our stay.

The Redmont is a beautiful old hotel in downtown Birmingham. We chose it for the Presidential suite as we were celebrating our anniversary. Upon arrival, we were told the presidential suite should not have been offered through hotels.com and that it was occupied; we would be downgraded to a king suite and the difference in room price would be credited. It was not credited, nor would the manager return my phone calls. There was no valet. We were told to park next door in the church parking lot or across the street in the free parking. Aside from the presidential suite, the roof top bar was the other reason we chose this hotel, and it was closed that night! Overall, the staff was friendly, and I am very understanding of problems arising however, the Redmont management needs to improve their customer service skills. Keynote: don't book the Presidential suite if you are booking through hotels.com (even though it is still an option as I type this review).

The deferred maintenance by ownership is noticeable. The fitness center was not kept - Machines out of order, mold-stained ceiling tiles, water damaged doors, messy, and the key/fob system was not working so I had to be escorted by staff each time I wanted into my room, and not once was my ID checked prior to me getting access to the room. However, the staff was very friendly.
