Nestled a couple steps away from Coolidge Corner, Fenway, and Longwood Medical Area the Arcadian Hotel is a great option for those visiting Boston/Brookline. The building was overall clean and modern. However, be aware of the interior rooms meaning that they have no windows to the outdoors. Therefore no natural lighting.

Another Party Assigned Our Room

When we checked in, I was told there was an additional $33.00 "resort fee." This place in no way is a resort. I really am put off by these hidden fees. Let us know the price up front! We went to our room and it was nice. Recently redone and comfortable beds. As we were in bed watching TV, the door opened! It was another couple who had been assigned our same room and given a key that opened the door! We were all a little shocked and the other couple left. I tried calling the front desk twice, but it was busy. The continental breakfast was decent, though nothing special. The problems were, there was no one tidying up and refilling the food trays. Also, the breakfast room does not have a sufficient number of tables. It has too many fancy, fluffy chairs and not enough standard tables and chairs. So breakfast was stressed as others are on the prowl for the few tables. Overall, nice place but they just need to get their act together on a few areas and stop with the hidden fees.

We found the staff very accomodating. We needed room next to each other and they arranged that. I needed boarding passes printed and again it wasn't straight forward they arranged it. The parking fee was $46/day but this is not unsual for this area. We stayed at another hotel in this area previously which charged $50/day.

Lounge area was unique in that it was roomy and had variety in the furniture. Adequate breakfast to see us through the day. Train station was convenient and local services were in walking distance.

HVAC bad

This hotel would be OK if it wasn't for how heating and cooling works. There is a thermostat in the room but it cannot be set to a temperature. You can either set it to cool, in which case it cools endlessly, or to heat, in which case it keeps heating, or to off in which case the air quickly becomes warm and musty. My husband and I spent two nights getting up every few hours flipping the thermostat from cool to heat to off and back again. Perhaps that was the issue with our room only but we only stayed 2 nights and were busy during the one full day we spent there and did not bother with a repair request.

The rooms do not have there own microwave. The breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. If you like carbs galore for breakfast than you will be ok. The bar is not open. The gym sucks. Tv options suck.

We had a very odd room with a window looking into the hallway. Therefore we had to keep the curtain closed it was a dark cave. The room was way too hot, but facilities did fix that the next day. The maid never came by and we ran out of tp!! Probably never stay here again.
