Hi there, Thank you for the review. We have a nice simple camping ground that we try to keep as clean and functional as possible. We are sorry that our team member on reception was not overly helpful. We will be sure to add some additional training and feedback as we are very focused on providing great customer service. Thank you again for your time.

Right on the beach

Pros: Location, customer service, proximity to Waihi
Location: Surf shack cafe is a must visit
The customer service focus is fantastic here. We were offered to upgrade without feeling pressured and were so happy to have done so when we saw the spaciousness provided within the two bedroom cabins. We enjoyed a lovely spa and were happily given extra milk when requested. During our stay there was heavy rain, Nikki ran out to our cabin in the rain just before dark to make sure we were okay and advised we should move our car as the sump outside our cabin wasn't draining correctly and by morning there may be a lot of surface water. We moved our car and sure enough the next morning there was a lot of water outside our cabin. Another worker came and asked if we were okay and advised within an hour we would be able to bring the car back down in order to pack up and check out. Although there was never any danger of our cabin flooding the consideration that was given to us was so nice and we really appreciated it. Beautiful place to stay and staff were amazing.

Excellent position in Bowentown by a lovely beach

Pros: Its location and price - our small self-contained unit was basic but not expensive. The gardens and the camp layout were attractive.
Cons: Bedding, other than sheets and pillowcases could be supplied instead of needing to be hired. More playground activities would help families.
Great place for walking on several kms of beach and to the nearby lookout. The beach is beautiful and the views are breath-taking. People were fishing but we were unsure if the beach was safe for swimming. The camping ground was 10 km from Waihi Beach village, which had a good selection of daytime cafes and some craft shops in the mix. For evening meals 2 or 3 places were open during our 2 night stay in May. Bowentown to Waihi is about 20 minutes drive and a further 10-15 minutes takes you to the Karangahake Gorge. The area is rich in mining history.

Tucked away - Get away

Location: Beautiful surroundings, Bays and coastline. Locals were friendly and helpful on fishing hot spots.
A lovely welcome by the team. Settled into our cabin, very pleased with the layout and cleanliness of cabin and surroundings. Staff were knowledge of local fishing area and happy to share. The spa pool was awesome $12 for two for 25 minutes. All in all - a neat camp grounds that we would love to return to.

Clean, well kept hotel with ocean view

Pros: The cleanliness, the privacy, the amenities, and the location.
Location: We enjoyed exploring Waihi and hiking in the nearby gorge. We also drove to Bay of Plenty and enjoyed visiting Mt. Manganui, which was an easy drive.
We had a great stay at Bowentown Holiday Park. We stayed in the fully equipped 2-bedroom unit with ocean views and a kitchen and bathroom. The unit was extremely clean when we arrived, with fresh bedding and towels shaped into swans on the beds. It smelled fresh and clean and I was comfortable having my toddler crawl around on the carpeted floor! They provided soap in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as shampoos and conditioners and body soaps in the showers. The unit wasn't cleaned every day, which we preferred, as it offered us more privacy-and we just cleaned up after ourselves like we would at home! When we needed clean towels, we just dropped by the office with our soiled toils and they gave us clean ones. The staff was helpful and friendly. The park wasn't very busy during our stay so it was pretty quiet, which was great! We really liked the fact that the unit had air-conditioning so we didn't have to leave the windows open at night to stay cool-and have our unit filled with bugs. In the event bugs did get in, the hosts provided bug spray in the unit under the kitchen sink. The kitchen was fully stocked with utensils, pots & pans, glassware, etc., which enabled us to cook our own meals. Cleaning items were also provided so we didn't have to buy those ourselves. The proximity to the playground was great for our daughter--we could let her go down by herself, while we watched her from our front porch!

Great little spot close to the beach

Pros: Tidy, well presented.
Cons: A little steep price-wise, may get better value with a book-a-bach arrangement.
Location: Within 100m of beach front, plenty of walks nearby, fishing, boating etc.Nice cafe's in nearby Waihi beach.
We spent two nights here off-season in an Ocean View Motel cabin. Facilities are tidy and well presented, staff were very friendly to deal with. Would have been good to been able to stay longer to get more time on the beach.
