Holidays To Brazil
Brazil is big and it’s a pretty big deal—just ask a football fan.
As the largest country in South America, Brazil leads the region in beaches, barbecue and beautiful scenery.
With great size comes many different landscapes to explore. To see the whole country, you’ll need to pack your hiking shoes for blazing trails through the Amazon to the northwest and your bathers for surfing south of São Paulo. And if you don’t get your fill of fun on one holiday in Brazil, don’t worry—we’ve got plenty cheap Brazil packages on hand, so you can keep going back for seconds.
Things to Do in Brazil
Brazil isn’t only Rio de Janeiro, but that city is a great place to start holidays in Brazil—partly because the airport is busy and partly because it’s a vibrant seaside community! So pick up one of Wotif’s sweet Rio De Janeiro car hire options and roll through Rio. Don’t be shy about having a good time and dusting off your Portuguese phrase book with the locals. For stellar views of the city—and the Atlantic Ocean—climb to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain. On a clear day, you can look to the west and see the famous “Christ the Redeemer” statue with arms stretched out to Rio. Fill your days with museum-hopping and make your way to the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro for a show in art nouveau elegance. If you can’t get enough beaches, check out Florianopolis a few hours to the south, because this one town has 42 beaches all to itself.
Toward the middle of the country, visit Brasilia, the capital, to add another culture fix to your Brazil holiday. Stop for quiet time at the Catedral Metropolitana before touring a couple palaces. Start with the contemporary Itamaraty Palace with rooftop gardens, then walk over to Planalto Palace, the president’s chic digs. When you’re ready to leave the urban jungle behind, grab your gear and drive out to the Amazon to the northwest. This sprawling state is largely undeveloped and perfect for escaping for a walkabout—a gorgeous walkabout.
Shopping, Dining & Nightlife
When you want to shop till you almost drop then lounge at the beach, make São Paulo your centre, as it is full of markets and fashion boutiques and perfectly situated between Rio de Janeiro and Florianopolis—two other shoppers’ playgrounds. Further inland, Belo Horizonte is known for its open air market, where you can buy anything from flowers to food.
Speaking of food, we hope you packed an appetite. If you didn’t, too bad, because the world-famous barbecue and beers won’t devour themselves. While meat is star of Brazilian cuisine, it’s not the only singer in the band. Stuff your face with pão de queijo—cheese-filled bread balls—and pastéis, which are pocket sandwiches with all kinds of fillings.
Brazil is chill, but don’t be surprised when the tempo rises at night. Obviously you’ll want to be close to a beach town, like Rio, as soon as the sun goes down. Expect fireworks on the waterfront just because, and some serious samba dancing in the clubs.

Hotel Arpoador
Lovely the staff, the breakfast is incredible, great view from the roof terrace. Location is exceptional too. The window (city side) was not very sound proof, the room was quite small and they could do with some showers or an area to wash off the sand from the beach before going into the hotel. Also ...
