Relaxing stay post friend wedding

Wife and I came for a wedding and stayed here after for a few days in Vermont. The Essex Resort was a great home base for our travel, it felt so peaceful and the staff was beyond friendly. We felt taken care of during a time we wanted rest. We ate at Lazy Goat Tavern, walked the resort, and enjoyed the hot tub in our room (not all rooms have this).

We stayed here for a wedding. The room was nice. It had a kitchenette. Only complaint is the is no exhauat fan in the bathroom making everything very wet and humid and the AC did not get very cold.

It was in the middle of nowhere. Dining was very limited. The Goat Tavern opened and closed during the day. It was not open all day. Their other restaurant The Junction only opened on Friday and Saturday evenings. We drove to nearby restaurants and found many of them closed most of the week and/or opened from Thursdays thru Saturdays. We ended getting food from the deli at the nearby grocery store. We did drive to Burlington, Vermont a few miles away. We were going to take a lunch cruise on the Spirit of Ethan Allen. Once we got there the ticket office said the cruise was canceled due to the weather. We went back the next day again and it was canceled again except for the evening cruise. The Essex Resort and Spa is good for events and/or conferences on site. Otherwise, I would recommend staying in Burlington or South Burlington, Vermont.

We had an amazing stay. Large family in 4 rooms - we ate on site 3 meals and spent lots of time in the bar and the front fire place. The staff was amazing from Checking in to service - We will be back!!!
