It’s an older place but that’s obvious. I found the ownership/staff friendly and polite. The room is clean as is the bathroom. The location is primo! It’s right on the cusp of Oceanside and Carlsbad so choose north or south and ur in paradise! Price is great but remember , u pay for the location, it’s not fancy. Also, aside from a train horn every few hours my stay was quiet and drama free. I heard its reputation for police visits but I didn’t experience that at all.

As soon as I checked I noticed stains that looked like blood on the sofa. I called the office and asked if they had another room with 2 bed and they said they didn’t. My husband took the top cover off the bed to put on the sofa so he could sleep on it because he would not let me or our daughter sleep on it. We left immediately for the day after probably 15 minutes after checking in. We got back at about 10:30 after being out for about 8 hours. That’s when we noticed the black MOLD in the bathroom. That was the last straw I have asthma bad and I could not stay in that room. I informed the front desk and they said they couldn’t refund me and they didn’t have another room. After an hour of back and forth between Expedia and the Motel I finally got a refund but not from the hotel but from Expedia. Beware people beware.
